Leeland James Cox Baby Dedication

Acknowledgment of Parents and Child:

It is with great joy to introduce you to one of the newest members of our church family.

Leeland James Cox is the son of Jimmy and Payton Cox and was born May 7th in Henderson, KY at 1:54 PM, weighing in at 8 lbs 3 oz, and was 21 inches long!

These parents have come today to pledge themselves before God and this congregation to raise their child in a way the honors the LORD.

Here supporting Jimmy, Payton, and Leeland are Leeland’s grandparents Jared and Denise McGraw, Leeland’s uncle and future aunt, Paxton McGraw and Maddie Jackson along with some of his other family members, if you are a family member here to support Leeland, please stand at this time, let’s give a round of applause for this beautiful family!

Scripture Reading:

At this time I would like to share with you two sets of Scripture with you, both being biblical admonitions given to us by God from His Holy Word:

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 tells us: “Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

Proverbs 22:6 tells us: “Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

4. Jimmy and Payton, this is what God expects from you as parents to Leeland, may you consider our Lord’s advice seriously and look to His Word for guidance for the rest of your lives, clinging to it and teaching Leeland to cling to it as well.

2. Do you come to dedicate yourselves to biblical instruction, discipline, and love of this child? We do.

3. Do you come to dedicate Leeland James Cox into the ultimate control and will of God through the Lord Jesus Christ? We do.

Church

Do you, church, agree to support these parents, Jimmy and Payton, by your example and through acts of service and do you agree to reinforce the biblical instruction, discipline, and love of this child under the supreme rule of the Lord Jesus Christ? If you do, please stand…you may be seated.

Prayer of Dedication:

At this time I would like to ask any family members who would like to join us up here to lay hands on this beautiful family as we anoint baby Leeland and offer up a prayer of dedication to the Lord.

Church will you stand and raise your hands towards this family showing your support and may you offer up a prayer of your own as well.

ANOINT AND PRAY:

Dear Heavenly Father, we bring this child to you with all our heart, soul, and might. We want to raise this child to love you and serve you. Please help us to be the congregation and parents that will set the right example for this child, and that this child might love and serve you throughout his life. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
