The Healing of a Blind man

John 9:1–12

The Miracle

John 9:1-7
*Notice that this takes Place after Jesus proclaims that “I am the Light of the world”!

Prior to the healing the disciples ask whose sin caused his blindness, his or his parents?

This question was more than likely stemming from the legalistic influence that the religious people of the day had pushed.
Legalism is the attempt to earn God’s favor through our own righteous works.
Christ answers neither of them are at fault.
IT WAS TO BRING GOD GLORY
No matter what you ailment, addiction or trial you are in, it may not be your fault or anyone around you. MAYBE IT’S TO BRING GLORY AND HONOR TO GOD!

Jesus Spat upon the Ground

There is a reason Jesus did what he did?
Have you ever wandered why Jesus used his own spit?
It would have not only drawn the attention of the Pharisees but of the Pagans(people who believe in other Gods) because it was a common belief to Pagans that spit from a renowned person associated with healing.

The Reaction

John 9:8-12
*The People who knew of the man asked if this was the same person
WHEN GOD TOUCHES YOU AND CHANGES YOUR LIFE PEOPLE SHOULD SAY THE SAME ABOUT YOU
They ask how is he changed?
We should be able to answer in the same way! JESUS DID IT ALL!!!

The Interrogation

John 9:12-34

The Interrogation of the Blind Man

v. 12-18
they asked where he was
they asked how he did it
they asked what he thought of the man (he thought him as a prophet)

They Interrogation of the Parents

v. 19-23
The Parents Confirmed he WAS blind and now sees
The Parents were Concerned about the outcome
The Parents Confessed he’s of age ask him

The Pressed the Blind Man Harder

v. 24-34
They asked for a confession. (Joshua 7:19 “And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the Lord God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.” )
They asked him how it happened again.
We then see the Blind Man that was once a beggar now has a Boldness
They cast him out of the synagogue

The Blind Man’s Belief

vs. 35-41
Jesus confronts the blind man
“Dost thou believe on the Son of God?”
He Believed and fell down and Worshipped Him
Jesus Proclaims he came the the blind might see and those that see might be blind
“Are we blind also?”
Jesus pretty much says though you may see clearly physically you are blind spiritually. They were Spiritually blinded by their self righteousness.
