Introduction
Truth is indispensable. You simply cannot do without truth.
There is no “your truth” and “my truth.”
There is only truth—the facts that correspond to reality.
Of course, someone says this is true and another person says that is true, and it can be difficult at times to know what the truth is, but we cannot rationally deny that there is truth
[ILLUS] I was on an airplane once, seated next to the aisle, talking with the man in the middle seat about Jesus. He kept saying to me, “But that’s true for you… that’s true for you,” to which I responded, “No, it’s not just true for me; it’s either true or isn’t true, but if what the Bible says about Jesus is true, it’s true for us all.”
I said, “It’s like 1 + 1 = 2; that’s a truth true for us all.”
Then he said, “Yeah, but for some people 1 + 1 = 3.”
That’s when the guy next to the window, who hadn’t been involved in the conversation, said, “Yeah, but it really equals 2 though.”
That man understood that truth is undeniable.
It’s indispensable.
You cannot do without truth.
At VBS this week, our motto has been, “God’s truth never changes,” and because it doesn’t change, it is a firm foundation to build our lives on.
The point of this passage is clear.
Two men built houses on two different foundations.
One house endured.
The other didn’t.
Be like the wise man who built his house on a rock-solid foundation.
Don’t be like the foolish man who built his house on shifting sand.
Storms are going to come, and when they do, your foundation will be revealed by whether your house stands or falls.
Day 1 - Truth comes from God.
Day 2 - God’s plan is best.
Day 3 - Everyone needs Jesus.
Day 4 - Jesus is the only way.
Day 5 - Speak the truth in love.

I’d like to ask and answer three questions this morning…
Question #1: Who was Jesus?
Question #2: What did He say?
Question #3: Why should we build our lives on Him?
Major Ideas

Question #1: Who was Jesus?
Question #1: Who was Jesus?
21 “She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
Jesus was the Savior who came to save us from our sins.
13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”
15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
17 And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
18 “I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.
Question #2: What did He say?
Question #2: What did He say?
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
18 “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Question #3: Why should we build our lives on Him?

Charles Spurgeon said, “I have learned to kiss the wave that throws me against the Rock of Ages.”
