There has been much said about our liberation to this point. While much of it has been a high level over view. It is now time to take somewhat of a deep dive into some of the concepts we have become familiar with. While it will still be an overview I want to focus on some of the things that will continue the work of equipping the body.
A few weeks ago I mentioned that not everything is a demon. There are things that can lead to an oppression or all out possession.
So in the work of Ministration to the Soul there are a few things we look for that tell the minister where your captivity is and how it is rooted.
1. Restraints
2. Ties
3. Ligatures
Additionally, as a minister we begin to look at:
How long that binding has been there?
How has it progressed in the life of the person?
What is the impact of this binding in the life of the person?

The work of liberation engages the parts of our life that tend to give way to spiritual afflictions.

John 11:44 ESV
The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”
Divine order to bring liberation and set them free.
The work of salvation or resurrection is completely the Lords.
He uses a human agent to accomplish the latter portion.
Everyone who arrives into the Kingdom has dealt with or is dealing with restraints
Our focus should be on bringing liberation to the each person, and not just focusing
Lazarus
Feet bound - unable to carry the gospel
Hands bound - unable to hold the shield of faith or carry the sword of the Spirit… much less are they able to receive or give… or give an embrace
Face wrapped - shame and guilt… clouded with human cunning and deceptive schemes.
Worst thing we can do in ministry is to create people codependent on the minister…
Train them; Equip them; Set them free so they can set others free.
It is my assertion the same God who has anointed me to bring this church into its liberation is at work in your life which mean every unclean Spirit will fall by the power of the Lord.
As Lazarus is bound the term refers to various types of bindings
Restrained bound or imprisoned
Tied or bundled or yoked
Ligatures which are things which constrain by legal access
How do we end up bound

Constrained and Bound

a. Dedemenos: various bindings… Imprisoning… yoke something… constrained by law
Judges 16:7 ESV
Samson said to her, “If they bind me with seven fresh bowstrings that have not been dried, then I shall become weak and be like any other man.”
The exchange between Samson and Delilah aid in the understanding of how we can be found captive
Samson being a child of promise with incredible power in this moment is about to be brought into captivity and has no clue
Flirting with sin and not thinking it is going to have an impact
He tells his secret… no matter how strong there is a way to bind him.
People go around here is my sin… here is my sin… wear it like a collar
Slow walk into sin until we finally cave and submit to sin
Binding type here known as
hooks
repression - captured
Bound to a yoke as an animal
Captured
The way out can be simple in the early stages as it is in need of counseling
deal with the Flesh
When the accuser begins his assault it begins with subtleties, teasing, little things that make it appealing to you as Delilah asked Samson:
Where does your strength lie?
How can you be bound?
How can you be subdued;
afflicted
oppressed
emaciated
hunched/humiliated
Judges 16:11 ESV
And he said to her, “If they bind me with new ropes that have not been used, then I shall become weak and be like any other man.”
There is the flirting with sin and then there is the itching for new
New Age in Christianity
New Doctrines
Consider a David who would not wear Saul’s armor because it had not been tested
Spiritual bindings can be yielded from sitting under prolonged bead teaching/preaching
Paul spends much time coming against false teachings as this will bring people into captivity
The Gospel of Jesus Christ has been tested for thousands of years and remains the only thing that is new in our lives as it transforms us as it renews our mind
stop searching for craziness that has nothing to do with the Word of God
do not come at me with the
Watchtower
Quran
Book of Mormon
All of these attest to the bible being true… use that as the guise to bring “new”
These bindings cause
weakness - unable to withstand an external assault
become like any other man
Before you were born I knew you… I know the plans I have for you… to prosper; hope and future.
You were never made to be a common man or woman… you are a child of God

Detecting When Someone is Captive

Judges 16:21 ESV
And the Philistines seized him and gouged out his eyes and brought him down to Gaza and bound him with bronze shackles. And he ground at the mill in the prison.
There comes a day when the flirting comes to an end the fun stops and suddenly you go from bound to captive
Samson was named to be Sun Child
Protector and liberator of Israel
This has been the game from the start the enemy will do whatever to hold you bound to render you like a common person so you will never be a liberator
Progression
Seized - bound (areas the Lord is not ruling over)
Eyes were taken (Vision is lost)
Bronze - (God’s judgement of Sin)
Heaven’s are closed
prayers go unanswered
Prison (house of crushing) provision and worship to the Lord was crushed and made to seize.
When we see someone who is a child of God is
Difficulty building a relationship with the Lord.
Stuck in circular sin and broken theology
Finds themselves bored in the presence of God
Or like a church stuck in the dessert of believing Salvation was the end and there is no need to grow you see someone who is held captive

Types of Bindings

Restraint

Luke 8:29 ESV
For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many a time it had seized him. He was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the desert.)
Man is bound physically
Chains
Shackles
Under guard
Broke out of every human effort
v.29 is a process… work of commanding
Symptoms
Naked - running from the church
Cemetery - fascinated with death; carry symbols of death
Prefers company of the dead over the living - stop consulting with the dead for wisdom
After being delivered
Set free sat at the feet of Jesus washed by the word
Testify of He has done

Ties

Numbers 30:6 ESV
“If she marries a husband, while under her vows or any thoughtless utterance of her lips by which she has bound herself,
Thoughtless utterances
Promises; word curses; pinky promises
think before you speak or come into agreement with people or words leisurely
Genesis 34:2–3 ESV
And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land, saw her, he seized her and lay with her and humiliated her. And his soul was drawn to Dinah the daughter of Jacob. He loved the young woman and spoke tenderly to her.
2. Intimate relations; exchange of fluid;
a. the reason we should not sleep aound
b. stop giving yourself away
Matthew 23:4 ESV
They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their finger.
3. Religious ties
a. legalism; pragmatism force a way of living presenting it as Godly and lay heavy burdens on the people
b. when being liberated they cannot accept it because what religiosity tells them not to accept it
c. liberation to these is brought to them in the washing in the word… get out of the extremes
d. we cannot lay additional burdens on His people “…let my people go so they can worship God and He can be their God…and they can be His people”

Ligatures

1 Samuel 18:21 ESV
Saul thought, “Let me give her to him, that she may be a snare for him and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him.” Therefore Saul said to David a second time, “You shall now be my son-in-law.”
these are best known as snares… the attempt is to cause people to stumble caught in a trap, and rendered unable to free itself
Hidden occult
Romans 11:9 ESV
And David says, “Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them;
a. careful whose house you are in…. careful whose food you consume … what was the intent of the invitation
The ties and ligatures can often be seen as the same. These are the things deep in our soul that need significant working…. by the time it has become a ligature chains of pain and deep wounds
Isaiah 58:6 ESV
“Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?
minister to the restraints, ties, ligatures.
