THIS IS A NEW SERIES WE ARE STARTING TODAY.
THIS IS A NEW SERIES WE ARE STARTING TODAY.
ESPECIALLY IN THE AREA OF RESTORATION & RECOVERY
You might even look at this series as a bible study. I certainly do!
Let me lay some groundwork before we get started:
I myself consider this series..intensive to be for certain.
You will need your bible (here) with you.
Plus i will provide you with a notebook for you to write things down, for your participation in your recovery.
This will be at least a six week study, in order for you all to possibly grasp the seriousness of just the names of God/Jesus
At the end of this 6 week study we as a group will decide if we want to continue to keep doing this.
DO NOT LET THE QUANTITY OF NAMES THAT IS POSSIBLE TO KNOW, OVERWHELM YOU.
WERE NOT GOING TO LIST THEM ALL (UNLESS AFTER 6 WEEKS YOU DECIDE TOO! (SMILE)
ALSO WE WILL NOT BE REVIEWING ANY OF THE STEPS DURING THIS TIME , SO AS TO HELP YOU FOCUS ON THE SCRIPTURE RELATING TO THE NAMES OF GOD
LET ME PREP YOU FIRST BY SAYING “WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO PRAY IN JESUS NAME?”
Jesus himself instructed us to do it.
John 16:24 “Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” but do you understand it?
to pray, in Jesus name means to pray in the authority of that name, much as we might use the phrase “in the name of the law“ to assert the authority of the law.
but the use of Jesus name should be more than a mere postscript on our prayers, more even then an authoritative letterhead. To pray effectively in Christ name, we must be “in him“ – and union with his life and death.
in his letter, Paul uses the prepositions “in“ and “together with“ to emphasize the connectedness of the believer to Christ, and his authority and power.
praying in Jesus name does not give our prayers, extra power. The truth is, prayers are completely powerless in the first place, unless they are “in Jesus.“
Without Christ intercession, no prayers would make it to the ears of God. The reason we were told to pray in, and by his authority is not as some magic formula, but to put our own spirit, and our own thinking in the right place – under and in him
“NO” FOR AN ANSWER
Of course this means we must be willing to accept ”no” as an answer.
Even God’s “no” is not a “No Way,” but No i have something better in mind.”
Christ’s prayer in Gethasemane before His crucifixion should teach us both bout whose authority we are under and about accepting God’s better plan (Matthew 26:39 “And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”;
Mark 14:36 “And he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”;
Luke 22:42 “saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
Christ invites us to pray in His name, assuring us that whatever is asked, by His authority and in faith, will be granted by God.
This means that, first, we must be connected to God in Christ, and second, that we must know we have what we ask for !
For Christians, the second part is often difficult, even impossible.
Christ’ Gethsemane prayer about this cup passing from him, The only request He made by the way. That was denied, teaches us that there are some things we ask for (good as they may seem).
That are not God’s best for us.
Jesus knew it was the Father’s will that He should suffer on our behalf; many of our prayers may also fall in to this category. But observe the powerful results: In Jesus’ case, as in ours, the ultimate outcome will be life out of death.
We should think of our prayers as Christ’ own prayers through us, inspired and led by the Holy Spirit.
God has already planned out the good works we are to walk in; these include our prayers (Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Seeing our prayers as Jesus’ prayers THROUGH US should cause us to think about our union with Christ.
Real authority always flows from the Author.
Are you connected to the author and Perfecter of our faith?
Are you feeling like learning more about Names, yet? (SMILE)
Do names mean anything to God?
What was the first thing God had Adam to do?
Do names mean anything to God?
What was the first thing God had Adam to do?
What’s in a name that the demons flee?
What’s in a name that the captives go free?
Whats in a name that every knee will bow? at the name of Jesus! Name above all names
what kind of names were you called growing up , or even now?
maybe good. Maybe not so good? Ha ha.
I myself have been called many names such as: son, grandson, jerry, dad, even arrogant, jerk, fool, ignorant. but even more than those after being broken, i now am called redeemed, renewed, restored child of the one true king! Despite my ingonorance with struggles with codependency, anger, and lust.
These names take on greater importance because of Jesus death, burial, and resurrection, to give me a new life!
Dad, pastor, brother, man of God, etc, i enjoy.
Just dont call me late to dinner! LOL
As a prep for you i will start out with the names of God/Jesus that you probably already know, then move on to other names that you are not aware of!
I WILL SHARE WITH YOU THE BIBLE VERSE IT COMES FROM.
THE MEANING OF THE WORD.
A PRAYER WITH THE NAME TO GIVE YOU CONTEXT
LETS BEGIN SHALL WE!
Jehovah
Verse: This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord (Jehovah) God made earth and heaven. Genesis 2:4
Meaning:
Lord, master and relational God.
Prayer: Thanksgiving
Jehovah, thank you that you desire to be close to me.
Thank you that you are not just a God who is high and lifted up but you are also a God who communes with the lowly and with those who are not of a high stature.
Thank you for the goodness and depth of your heart which pours out love time and again in my life, for the grace of your patience which continues to show love even in the face of my many dismissals of you.
I often walk in the midst of the beauty of your creation without giving you the praise and credit that is due you so please accept my heart of gratitude right now for all that you have made, and for your desire to know me fully and have me know you as well.
