Contentment is a choice. But it is not a simple choice, and it can be made more valid with perspective. If we can recognize that most of the comforts and resources available to us are not there because we have a right to have them simply by being born. The air that we breathe, the fruits of trees and bushes, the shade of a rock or tree, and the shelter of a cave are the only things I can think of quickly while writing this synopsis that we have available through no other merit than being alive. Your parents might have had a house when you were born. In another part of the world, a mother gives birth with no idea where she and her child will sleep. We can be content with what we have not by comparing our situation to someone with less, but by recognizing that no human is entitled to anything. What little or abundance we have is a blessing, an allotment from God. Ephesians 1:3–14;
