22 “Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. 23 By myself I have sworn; from my mouth has gone out in righteousness a word that shall not return: ‘To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear allegiance.’

The pearl of price, the Lord Jesus, he is the quintessence of all good things. to give us Christ is more than if God can make more worlds, but he has no more Christs to bestow; it is such a golden mine that the angels cannot dig to the bottom. - Thomas Watson

1 Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, 3 “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” 4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. 5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, 6 “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.” 7 I will tell of the decree: The Lord said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you. 8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. 9 You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.” 10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
Introduction
Introduction
Wouldn’t you like to see a look behind the curtain to see what God is doing about all the crazyiness in the world? Psalm 2 does that.
The word Revelation means to to make know an unknown fact. The Book that has that name is just that, God revealing the events in the last days. Apocalypse meant to unveil in Greek, same idea.
Some might say that sense the pandemic many people have been clued in to how things really operate these days in our country. The graft, the crime, the lies, the shifting narratives. Verse 1 and 2 we have lived it out. We are seeing live the blatant drive to verse 3. In the pandemic you in some states weren’t allowed to go to church, but you could go to the liquor store. Mom and Pop shops had to close but Walmart stayed open. Who were the Walton’s connected to? The Disney company started to actively put all sorts of anti-Christian messaging into their films and change dress codes so that we saw a man in a dress with our 2 year old at the time. Those who would be our rulers are actively working to undermine and destroy Christ, his church, the gifts he has made. So this brings us to what I believe is very hopeful.
Verse 4-6
Verse 4-6
4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.
Oh how wonderful is God’s laughter Our God looks at the Heathen nations and see their plans and laughs! Look at quickly at Acts with me
24 And when they heard it, they lifted their voices together to God and said, “Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them, 25 who through the mouth of our father David, your servant, said by the Holy Spirit, “ ‘Why did the Gentiles rage, and the peoples plot in vain? 26 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed’— 27 for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, 28 to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place. 29 And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, 30 while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” 31 And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
Do you see it? They the Romans, the Jews thought they could kill Jesus, but they played into his plans! In fact he so worked against the kings that he used it to preach the Gospel even bolder!
All the rulers and elites who hate Christ plot at his kingdoms destruction. They plot, they lie, they warp and from heaven Jesus laughs at them!

Here are 3 things we can get from this
(1) that the Lord is far above all their malice and power,
(1) that the Lord is far above all their malice and power,
The schemes of men are so beneth God that anything they try to do against him doesn’t register anything but laughter from him. Does the blue whale even register that a gnat may have landed on it with all it’s little fury?
This is a comfort our God isn’t left flat footed when things seem to go wrong.
(2) that he seeth all their plots, looking down on all;
(2) that he seeth all their plots, looking down on all;
Those that plot in secret, well guess what he sees their inner most thoughts, he is the extra man at the meetings and conspiracies. He knows the motivations and reasonings. He see through the grey and see the real black and white. he knows the plots.
You may be taken aback but god is not fooled. Have you ever hd someone work against you? Maybe they succeded, maybe they failed. God is not worried.
(3) that he is of omnipotent power, and so can do with his enemies as he lists. "Our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he pleased." Psalm 115:3.
(3) that he is of omnipotent power, and so can do with his enemies as he lists. "Our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he pleased." Psalm 115:3.
A situation maybe overtaking you, but god has everything in his hand and can an does do as he pleases.
I want you to notice that from his throne in heaven, Jesus doesn’t even get up. Sin is so wicked and leaders conspiring but no issue found for him
Verse 5 The King of Kings speaks
Verse 5 The King of Kings speaks
To this point Jesus is sitting on the throne, hearing the vain plots and conspiracies of kings. his first action to them is to laugh at them in mockery.
Then he speaks to them in his wrath and the KJV says “Vexes” or troubles them or terrifies them.
When God answers it terrifies the people who work against them
I want to stop here for a second before we look at what he says.
God speaks, God has something to say about the evil kings and their actions.
What he says terrifies them. What he does is the pouring out of his wrath by what he will do and in our perspective has done.
He’s response to their plotting is that God the Father sent God the Son.
This truth at it heart terrifies men today.
The Bible is banned in 52 countries.
Christian education is illegal in government schools, because some are afraid that maybe someone who reads this book will become a believer.
The world is afraid of the king speaking and why is that because as the Bible says
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
These things cause fear amongst those that hate God. And why so because as it says in Psalm 1:6
6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
The word of God remind them that they are perishing and dying! They fear that what they say and do will not last.
I heard a study that said that people with far-left ideas often also have higher mental disease!
To me that makes sense, why because anti-Christian assumptions are basic in far left thinking. So when Christian ethics, ideas, and beliefs show up. It scares them! It drives them to Jealously Romans 11:11
11 So I ask, did they stumble in order that they might fall? By no means! Rather, through their trespass salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous.

Verse 6-7
6 “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.” 7 I will tell of the decree: The Lord said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.
This verse connects David, the writer of this Psalm, with King Jesus. thew Bible says this..
16 And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever.’ ”
He will rule because he is
16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”
Jesus will reign from Jerusalem forever
1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb

One of the story lines of scripture is the final return of the king. God had promised this in the Garden, he promises it in (expand)
The reminder is that the word is true. You can also see the trinty at work here. All of God is invested in bringing to completion of his plan.
Verse 8 This has happened
Verse 8 This has happened
Jesus says in Matt. 28:18
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
This Prophecy is two fold, God has already given the whole world to the Lord. The nations may rage but the king of kings already owns it all, and today he rules from heaven.
I want to clarify something about what some believe about the end times. He is not a prince waiting to tatke the throne the King Charles who was waiting for Decades. No he was born a king, he is a king, he is riegining now.
We will all do as Psalm 86:9
9 All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name.
4 Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
i’d imagine the American section of the nations is going to be the loudest! For the Brits in the room i’m sure your will be the most respectable. .
Our king reigns now and will reign in person.
Do you see that you are the Lord’s possession? Your Family, our church, even our nation are his possession.

Application:
Things that are the Lord’s, if you’re the steward of it must be taken care of! Best work possible, that’s the Protestant work ethic. Honest and cheerful and timely interaction with one another. Putting others before yourself, that is why we love each other dearly and deeply. Giving to the church yes if you treasure something you use your treasure to increase its value. Christian Children and grandchildren should be educated better then their peers. We do this because we are waiting fo the king to set up shop. I want Jesus to find that Bee Ridge firing on all 8 cylinders and I know all of you do to. I want him to find my family that way, our nation that way, how am I making it so? How am I preparing for the kings return?
