V1. Here David begins this Psalm similar to the same way he started in chapter 4 verse 1.
He is asking the Lord to hear his prayer. To consider the way David has been seeking the Lord.
I know when I have face certain challenges. I ask the Lord to listen to my prayer. I might say things like
“Lord listen to my prayer. I am your child” and so on goes the prayer.
This is similar to what David is doing here. He wants the Lord to listen to him and to consider the way David is meditating.
V2. Again similar to verse 1.
But the last part of the verse it says
“For to You I will pray”
Who else can we pray to. They have all these new age stuff, Christian Science, and others that take the Power of the Lord away. They call on the universe.
Make sure stars are aligned and what not.
All I can say is the my God created the stars and the Universe.
V3. David is really crying out to the Lord here.
So the question is
When was the last time you cried out to the Lord?
When was the last time you were in the presence of the Lord.?
When was the last time you looked up?
When was the last time you just observed His creation?
V4-6 We know that the Lord does not take pleasure in wickedness, all you have to do is look at the flood and the reason for the flood.
Genesis 6:11–13 “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.”
As you read the bible you come to the understanding that wickedness shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.
I don’t really like using inherit, because that means that God will not be there.
For example, when do we inherit our parents belongings?
When they are alive or when they pass on?
Well the answer is when they pass on.
I like to say, we get to live with our King for ever. But I understand what they mean when they say inherit. i am not saying is wrong to say inherit. I also at times use that terminology.
V7. How do we approach God when we go to church. Do we walk like we own the place. Are we humble when we are in His presence. or are we like
I am so an so so they better respect me as.
How do you approach God.
How do you worship Him?
Well I know those songs so I am just going to sit and listen. I am not saying that you have to stand to worship God, you can also do it sitting down.
I can sit even though everyone else is standing and still sing and praise God.
At the same time, just because you are standing does not mean you are in the presence of the Lord.
But that is between you and God.
This is just food for thought.
V8. Do you want the Lord to lead you. One of my favorite verses.
Psalm 119:105 “NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path.”
He lights the path for me.
Proverbs 3:5–6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.”
Do you trust in the Lord, again that is between you and God.
Food for thought.
Look at your life, and see if you do trust the Lord.
You may say you do but when you look at your life you dont.
You might trust more in people than in God.
You might be a pleasing people and not pleasing God.
The sad thing is that most Christians decide to please the unbeliever and justify it by saying things like.
I am ministering to them.
I am reaching out to them.
Not realizing that you are doing things compromising the word of God.
Which means you are not being a good example.
That is why Paul says do not associate yourself with such people.
V9-10- Which leads right into this next verse.
This is what you are compromising for.
It is like those who commit adultery or fornication
Why do that. For a good 2-3 minutes of fun. For that feeling and then it goes away and now you want more and more.
Think about it like this, you are with that person, and all of a sudden the rapture happens. Do you think you will be raptured if you are in the middle of adultery?
No you will not be raptured.
What about in the middle of watching porn? No you will not be raptured.
What about in the middle of being drunk? No you will not be raptured.
What if in the middle of doing the rosary with your family because you couldn’t say no because you couldn’t offend them? I would venture to say no.
People think God will bend the rules just because you have been going to church all your life.
He will change the rules just because you serve in the church. No He will not.

Galatians 5
V11-12 I love these two verses.
How many of you truly believe that God will surround you with a shield.
I am so protected by God, you don’t know. I walk every day with His protection, His mighty angels overseeing me. Not allowing evil to get near me.
But my thoughts are a different story. I have to take every thought captive. I have to fight against this flesh or corruption. I have to continually die to myself.
I fast and I pray to make my spirit strong. Again by no means am I perfect. But I continually ask for forgiveness. and i feel forgiven by my Father.
A couple of years ago, I was attacked and I failed. I quickly called Pastor Jim and Pastor Mark. Pastor Mark, happened to answer the phone and prayed for me.
I immediately felt this protection come over me. And again I was surrounded by His shield.
I believe during that time, people started wishing evil upon me, but they could not touch me. in fact some of those people I believe were punished in other ways.
It reminds me of Davis Psalm, when He prays
Psalm 35:1-8
Now look at Psalm 32
when you are forgiven, you can walk with your head up high(not in a boastful way in yourself) but boasting in the Lord
One of my favorite characters in the Bible is David.
I love the way Davids heart turned to God. by no means was he perfect. and if you don’t like him because he commited adultery or he murdered, well I have to say before you look at your brothers splinter in the eye look and the log in your own.
Because no one is perfect.
But there is a reeason why God says that David had a heart after God’s own heart.
And in all my wickedness, wretchedness, evilness, heart hardness, I want to have a heart after Gods own heart.
I pray we all want to have a heart after Gods own heart.
Amen
Let’s pray.
