Silence
· As we begin, let us remember that God calls His people, young and old, to be still and know that He is God. Let's take a few seconds to clear our minds, so that we can hear him better.

· Gracious God, your word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Today, help us walk with you.

Passage
Today’s I’ll be reading from Psalm 119 verse 105.
105 Your word is like a lamp for my feet and a light for my way.

Exhortation
Have you ever tried to walk through a dark room? You know there is furniture in there, maybe some toys were left on the ground, but your not exactly sure where everything is because you can’t see very well at all. What would you do if you needed to cross that room? I’d put my hands out in front of me and shuffle my feet slowly across the floor, hoping I don’t hit my shin on something or stub my toe! I’d be hoping I feel the table with my hands before I run into it.
Here’s the problem, when you can’t see very well, we tend to start trusting our feelings. Life is sort of like a journey on a dark path, we’re not always exactly sure whats ahead of us, or if we’re even going the right way. But, when you walk in a dark room, what do you actually do? If you’re like me, you’ll probably just turn the light on right? Or if your outside in the dark, a flashlight or torch is always nice to have on hand.
We don’t want to go through life just trusting our feelings. We may end up on the wrong path. We may end up hurting ourselves or others as we bump around in the dark. We need a light! We need a guide on the path. Our passage today says that God’s word is like a lamp for my feet and a light for my way. The Bible helps us see where we ought to go, and what paths to avoid. If you were walking down a dark path and had a lamp, would you ever set it down and wander into the dark woods? That doesn’t sound like a great idea to me. No, we need to have it near us always. The word of God is our source of light, and we need with us always.
Call to Action: Let’s take a moment, right now, just for a few seconds to quietly reflect on our passage. Think about how grateful you would be if you had a bright lamp on a dark path, I hope you have that same gratitude for the Bible!
[7 seconds of silence]
Closing Prayer
Let me pray for us now.
[3 seconds of silence]
Father in heaven you do not leave your people in the dark! You don’t want us to just trust our feelings, you have given us a lamp that lights the way we should go. Help us to always walk in that light, by reading, listening to, and memorizing your word. We ask this in the bright, glorious name of King Jesus.
Outro
Outro
"It's been great to be with you today."
Tomorrow, we'll be in Paul’s first letter to the church in Thessalonica. Until then, go in peace, and let the word of King Jesus dwell in you richly.
