Reflection
Silence
· As we begin, let us remember that God calls His people, young and old, to be still and know that He is God. Let's take a few seconds to clear our minds, so that we can hear him better.

Opening Prayer
(Monday)
· The heavens were formed and filled by your word, O God. When you spoke the stars shone forth in the night sky. Help us hear your words today – shape our hearts according to your will. (from Psalm 33)

Passage
Today’s passage is Exodus 15 verses 18-19.
18 The Lord will rule forever!”
19 The horses, chariot drivers and chariots of the king of Egypt went into the sea. And the Lord covered them with water from the sea. But the Israelites walked through the sea on dry land.

Exhortation
The story of the Exodus is a story everyone should know. Maybe you know it. Maybe you’ve heard someone read it from the Bible, maybe your pastor or priest has preached on it in church, or maybe you’ve just seen The Prince of Egypt movie. Truly, it is one of the greatest stories ever told, and one of the most magnificent moments in history.
Thousands of years ago a tyrant king of Egypt (called the Pharaoh), enslaved God’s people and forced them to build his kingdom. They cried out and God came to their rescue. He was their true king, not that prideful Pharaoh. The Pharaoh tried to stop God from delivering His people from slavery, but if God is for you, who can be against you? When the people reached the great sea God parted the waters and his people passed safely on dry ground. When Pharaoh and his army pursed them through the sea God let the waters returns and crush that evil army.
When the people saw what happened they sang a great song praising their Saving King. In fact the very last line of the song, a line I read in our passage today, says that God will reign as king forever and ever!
And here is the great truth from this story: God is the Saving King of his people. He pulls them out of bondage and sets them him his presence.
Call to Action: Take a moment to consider the wonder, the majesty, and the loyal love of our great Saving King.

Let’s pray together.

Oh God, Father, Son, and Spirit, we are so glad that you are the true King of all things. We rejoice that you do not leave your people in bondage. You are the Saving King, and you will reign as king forever and ever.
