Psalm 84:1–12 NASB 2020

How lovely are Your dwelling places, Lord of armies! My soul longed and even yearned for the courtyards of the Lord; My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God. The bird also has found a house, And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may put her young: Your altars, Lord of armies, My King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in Your house! They are ever praising You. Selah Blessed is the person whose strength is in You, In whose heart are the roads to Zion! Passing through the Valley of Baca they make it a spring; The early rain also covers it with blessings. They go from strength to strength, Every one of them appears before God in Zion. Lord God of armies, hear my prayer; Listen, God of Jacob! Selah See our shield, God, And look at the face of Your anointed. For a day in Your courtyards is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God Than live in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; He withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity. Lord of armies, Blessed is the person who trusts in You!

Author

All of The authors of the Psalms are unknown, we know that Moses wrote (1), David (73), Solomon (2), the sons of Korah (11, including one to which the name of Heman is also attached), Asaph (12), and Ethan (1) it is possible that others also wrote some of the Psalms, as well!!!!

The Author of Ps 84 is a son of Korah. We are not told which son of Korah (a Cousin of Moses and Aaron) who led small rebellion for the Priesthood!!!! Korah wanted the position that was given to Aaron. Korah and his family where given position in the court of Moses, 1 Chronicles 9:17–34, as gate keepers on all four side of the tabernacle and the temple.

Date

The date of the Psalms covers from the Exodus, roughly 1300 BC through the return of the exiles, 586ish some 800 years.

We do not now the date of PS 84. Nor do we know the occasion of Ps 84.

History

This covers some of the major events in the Jewish History to vast to cover here.

The History of Ps 84 is unkown other than it was some time after the rebellion of Korah, when his sons guarded the tabernacle and then the temple.

Structure

The Psalms, are songs, poems and hymns to praise and honor YHWH!!!!

Ps 84 is divided into (3) stanza YHWH The Holy Spirit, YHWH Ruach Gen 1:2, Enoch 37:1–5, Enoch 50:1–5, Exo 31:3, all having (4) verses, YHWH the Church, YHWH Qahal, Ecclesia Gen 1:4-5, Gen 1:27-31, Gen 3:22, Exo 34:9, Exo 36:18!!!!

Ps 84 whose sum is (12) which is a representation of YHWH the Church, Qahal, Ecclesia, it is the (12) Tribes of Israel, or the (12) Apostles. Its sum is (3) YHWH, the Holy Spirit, Gen 1:2, Rev 22:17. Theology/Purpose

The Theology of the Psalms is to declare YHWH as Lord God almighty. That we need to trust in the ways of YHWH and not man, 2 Ki 18:1-37, 2 Mac 8:18-20, 2 Mac 15:1-39, Psa 37:3, Psa 56:4, Psa 118:8-9, Prov 3:5-6, Mat 19:26, Mark 9:23, Luk 1:37!!!!

The House of the Lord, Ps 84:1-12 :

Application

YHWH, I am so looking forward to dwelling in Your house and Praising You for all eternity. For I know that it is better to spend the rest of my eternity in Your house, then to be any where else. In YHWH Yeshua’s name I pray and I claim this petition Amen Amen Amen Amen !!!!

Conclusion

Ps 84 teaches all is better to dwell in the house of the Lord, Ps 23:6, Ps 61:3-4, Ps 84:1-12, John 14:1-6, Rev 3:19-22, Rev 21:1-27, Rev 22:1-21 then anywhere else!!!!
