What does God’s love stand above, according to our song? - ocean waves
What will God’s love never do? - bend or break
Introduction: Friends, last night we considered that God’s love is more powerful than anything because it’s eternal, or, it lasts for ever! Tonight, friends, I want for us to consider how it is that we respond to God’s love.
There’s a word that is used that follows the phrase “What a truth we can …”
“Cling to,” that’s right!
What do you think it means to “cling” to something?
To hold on really hard to something!
Ex. Monkey bars - if you don’t hold on hard, you’ll fall off!
Friends, when we say that we should “cling” to the truth of God’s eternal love, what we mean is that we believe it as firmly as we believe anything that is true.
Parents love us.
Tomorrow night we’ll have VBS.
Or the Sun will come out tomorrow.
You see, friends, we can believe that God loves us because His truthful Word tells us that He does.
In fact, God proved His eternal love in an amazing way!
Romans 5:8 “8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
You see, friends, God showed us His love through sending Jesus to die for our sins so that, if we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to save us, we would be forgiven of our sins and made God’s children.
Conclusion: Friends, believe that God loves you because Jesus died for your sins. Tomorrow night, we’ll look at another word from our song that is very important.
