Discussion Questions:
What can you think of that is better than God’s plan to give believers His Spirit, making us God’s children, empowering us to live to please Him, and forgiving us of our sins? - nothing
What is better than the best that one could ever find in this world? - God’s plan
How does one receive the Holy Spirit? - believing on Jesus as their only Savior from their sins
Introduction: Last night, friends, we considered that whatever we could imagine or the best that we could find now does not compare with God’s plan for His children to live to please Him now and to live with Him forever some day.
Friends, finish the next lines, “So … the Lord in … you do.” (“trust … Everything,” that’s right - great job!)
According to this line, friends, in what can you trust the Lord?
In everything!
Psalm 56:4 “4 In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me?”
Friends, the writer of this Psalm is confident in the Lord, no matter what he faces.
Why?
Because he knows that God is leading His life.
He knows that God is in control of whatever he faces.
Friends, notice that he does not go into detail about what man can do!
You see, friends, there’s a lot that people can do to us (hurt, lie, cheat, steal).
But, friends, God leads this person’s life and is control of everything.
Friends, God not only controls and leads the life of the writer of this Psalm.
He also leads and controls our lives.
Friends, just as these truths gave the Psalmist confidence, should it also give us confidence, no matter what we face.
Conclusion: Friends, you can always trust the Lord in whatever you face because the Lord leads and controls your life.
