King James Version (John 19:28-30)
28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. 29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
King James Version (Matthew 27:50-52)
50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52 And the graves were opened;
King James Version (Luke 8:43-48)
43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, 44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. 45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. 47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. 48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

1. There is power in the Word of God!

When God speaks things have to happen! Things have to move! Things have to shift!
The Centurion soldier
King James Version (Matthew 8:5-13)
5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, 6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. 7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. 8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. 9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. 11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.
I see another instance in scripture.
Lazarus
King James Version (John 11:38-44)
38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. 39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. 40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. 42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. 43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. 44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin.
Thats power I tell you!
The reason that there is so much power in His Word is because of who He is!
You see becuause of Whe He is; He can do what He wants!
God is Soveriegn, He is the Almighty God!
Scripture revelas this to us!
English Standard Version (Isaiah 55:10-11)
10  “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11  so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
English Standard Version (Isaiah 46:9-10)
I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me,
10  declaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
and I will accomplish all my purpose,’
In our text tonight you also see this truth unfold!
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52 And the graves were opened;
You see,

2. There was so much power in the truth of the words of Jesus that the world shook.

You might say “What do you mean the world shook just because He said those words.” Not just because He said the words but also because of who He was and what the words represented and what He had at that time done.
The words it is finished were no simple words without meaning! You need to understand the power and purpose of these words!
i. Explain the state of mankind and the effects of the fall!
ii. THE MEANING OF “IT IS FINISHED!”
I came tonight to tell you that it is a finished work.
So much finished is it that none that came before and none that came or will come after can take from it or add to it.
So much finished is it that there is no more need for the Old Testament system that was under Moses.
So much finished is it that God will judge the world based on that finished work.
It was the completed work of God’s salvation that could only come through the precious atoning blood of Jesus Christ!
***So much finished was it that the earth had no choice to shake. The rocks had no choice but move. The graves had no choice but open. And the Old Testament saints had no choice but rise.***
Now here is the thing. The words which are based on the work of Christ may have literally shook the world back then. But the fact is that the shaking was always there and the shaking hasnt truly stopped. What are you saying pastor?

3. Before Jesus even died the shaking was happening for those who looked to Christ!

You actually see this in our text.
Here is a woman who was a social outcast!
Here is a woman who was a spiritual outcast!
Here is a woman who was a physical outcast!
She had no place, no position, she had no people, and she had no power!
When she touched the hem of His garment she touched the finished work of Christ!
*He removed the veil of her life.
She was secluded from all religious life.
*He broke the rocks that stood in her way to pieces.
*He opened the grave she was lying in.
She was dead spiritually and need of healing.
*He shook the very world she lived in.
No more trusting in man to help heal this infirmity. No more living on the outskirts of society, a castaway. A social reject.
This gospel invites all to come. Anyone who tells you any different is a liar. Yes there is repentance. Yes there is a turning. Yes there is a call to count the cost but for anyone who is willing to do it Gods way!

4. Since the day that Jesus died the shaking continues for anyone who will take hold of His finished work!

After Jesus died the shaking has been there for everyone who looks back to what He did on calvary
Becuase of the finished work “It is Finished!” Because of calvary. Because of the Cross. Things have been shaking ever since!
In the Bible. I read of the Apostle Paul!
You heard testimony of a shaking in a life tonight!
Not always like the woman in the sense of what she was facing. Paul was a big shot in the religious community and in the community itself. But God shook His world and brought Him into a relationship with His Savior and Lord Jesus Christ!

5. There is enough power in the finished work of Christ to shake your world and make it new!

The veil between you and God can be removed!
The rocks that seem to be in the way can be broken to pieces! What is in your way tonight?
The grave of your life can be opened.
The very ground of your world can be moved.
