1 Samuel 16:12–13 ESV
And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him, for this is he.” Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.
Anoint: A ritual of pouring or smearing oil on a person's head or forehead. The ritual was often done to install someone in a new office or role of authority.
“This is he” -
Last week I left you with people standing waiting for you to show up!
I want to publicly affirm that you are the “One”
You are the one that God has set apart as a chosen instrument…
And the Spirit of the lord has anointed you to fulfill God’s assignment…
Remember purpose is not about you it’s all about God…
I am God’s Container, Containing God’s Purpose within me…
Remember He is the Author and Finisher of our Faith!
God is in control and and he creates situations for revelations
But He is using us to reveal himself to others!
God knows how to disrupt and even torment our lives…
And every disruption and torment is not from the devil!
But there is a purpose for every disruption…
John 9:2–3 ESV
And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.
Paul when he seen the light on the road to Damascus he life was disrupted…
Acts 9:9 ESV
And for three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank.

Disruption & Torment can haver an Emotional and Mental Impact

Feeling tormented by life can be an overwhelming and distressing experience, often characterized by intense emotional, mental, and sometimes physical pressure…

Emotional and Mental Impact

Deep Sadness or Depression: Persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and worthlessness.
Anxiety: Chronic worry, fear, and panic attacks.
Despair: A sense of hopelessness and helplessness about the future
.Anger and Irritability: Frequent feelings of anger, frustration, or irritability.
Confusion and Disorientation: Difficulty understanding or making sense of one's emotions and situations.

Physical Symptoms

Exhaustion: Chronic fatigue and lack of energy.
Sleep Disturbances: Insomnia or excessive sleeping.
Appetite Changes: Significant changes in eating habits, leading to weight loss or gain.
Physical Pain: Unexplained aches and pains, headaches, or gastrointestinal issues.

Behavioral Responses

Withdrawal: Isolating from friends, family, and social activities.
Procrastination: Avoiding responsibilities and tasks.
Substance Abuse: Turning to alcohol or drugs as a coping mechanism.
Self-Harm: Engaging in self-destructive behaviors.
1 Samuel 16:14–15 ESV
Now the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a harmful spirit from the Lord tormented him. And Saul’s servants said to him, “Behold now, a harmful spirit from God is tormenting you.
“A harmful spirit from the Lord tormented him”
Someone you know is experiencing disruption and torment…
The are experiencing…
Sadness and depression
Anxiety
Despair
Anger
Confusion
Exhaustion
Withdrawal
They may actually be in a reprobate state… A harmful spirit…
Reprobate: an unprincipled person
Unprincipled: (of a person or their behavior) not acting in accordance with moral principles.
1 Samuel 16:16–17 ESV
Let our lord now command your servants who are before you to seek out a man who is skillful in playing the lyre, and when the harmful spirit from God is upon you, he will play it, and you will be well.” So Saul said to his servants, “Provide for me a man who can play well and bring him to me.”
“Provide for me a man who can play well and bring him to me.”
The door was open…..
God is creates a situation for you to walk in as His revelation….
1 Samuel 16:18 ESV
One of the young men answered, “Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a man of good presence, and the Lord is with him.”
Characteristics of an anointed person….
Skillful in playing
Skillful: to know (cognitive) v. — to be cognizant or aware of a fact or a specific piece of information; possess knowledge or information about.
A man of valor
Valor: exceptional or heroic courage when facing danger; especially in battle.
A man of war
war n. — the waging of armed conflict against an enemy. hand-to-hand fighting
Prudent in speech
Prudent: to be understanding v. — to be knowing and able to comprehend meaning.
A man of good presence
Presence: Appearance, form
The Lord is with him
Above all God was with him!
1 Samuel 16:23 ESV
And whenever the harmful spirit from God was upon Saul, David took the lyre and played it with his hand. So Saul was refreshed and was well, and the harmful spirit departed from him.
God is sending you to use whats in your hand to minister to those in need of refreshment!
