It’s a privilege to be here.

God’s image was perfectly establish in Eden

Adam/Eve walked with God perfectly in His image

God was in control and everything was right

Until Adam and Eve wanted to be in control

God established His authority, but Adam and Eve went Against God’s authority

God’s image was smeared.

Adam and Eve are still image bearers, created in God’s image, but that image is not perfect anymore

They sinned against God,

Now the relationship between mankind and God is fractured

We’ve been friends since 4th grade. In 8th grade, after wrestling practice

Every one of us have sinned against God

Wait, there’s hope

Ephesians 2:4–7 ESV

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

God did throw us away

God is rich in mercy and love

Even when we don’t deserve it, God set his love on us

God had a plan to redeem His people.

This plan was rooted in God’s character

God is merciful and loving

He could’ve sent us to hell and no one couldve blamed Him

Josh had every reason to hate me because I stole from him/lied to him

Every reason not to trust me or want to be my friend anymore

Instead he forgave me and moved toward me.

I wronged Josh and there was nothing I could do to pay him back

He moved toward me because he loved me.

Gospel presentation

God moved toward us because He loved us

God moved toward us by becoming a man, Jesus

He lived just like we did, only perfectly

He moved toward us by dying on the cross for our sins

Not because we deserved it, but because of His love and grace.

Ephesians 2:8 ESV

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

He moved toward us when He rose three days later and showed His love by defeating sin and death!

We can be saved by God’s grace alone

Not because of how moral, or a good person you are

Not because you pray so many times per day

But by God’s love/grace alone.

If you’re not a Christian, I want to invite you to believe in Jesus. Our hope for you this week is that you see the power of the good news of Jesus Christ.

That you encounter the living God who died for your sins so you can live for Him.

Jesus’s sacrifice comes with marching orders.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Jesus did not die for our sins so that we could continue to sin

We are forgiven to show God’s glory to the world
