Church Family & Friends,
What do we do in times like these?
We pray and remember and stay on mission.

1. PRAY

1 Timothy 2:1–3 ESV
1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
Step back from all the political noise for a moment and pray for the people involved yesterday…it wasn’t a news story for them - it was a terrifying few moments of life in a fallen and broken world.
When Ronald Regan was shot, he later reflected in his diary, “whatever happens from this moment on, I owe my life to God.” I’m praying everyone involved (including Trump) come to the same realization.
Pray for this nation. We’re not good at turning the temperature down on rhetoric and saying ugly things.
Pray for a great awakening in this present darkness to the light of the NEW LIFE offered in Christ
Philippians 4:5–7 ESV
5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

2. REMEMBER

I tell my teenage sons this often - Remember WHO YOU ARE and WHOSE YOU ARE.
Philippians 3:20–21 ESV
20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
WE ARE CITIZENS OF THE HOUSEHOLD OF GOD, FIRST! (Eph 2:19)
“Being a Christian is more fundamental to your identity than your family, your ethnicity, your profession, your nationality, your sexuality, your personality, (your politics), — or any other way this world defines identity.” (Dunlop)
James 1:19–21 ESV
19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

3. STAY ON MISSION

Know Jesus, Love Jesus, Obey Jesus - Stay Together as a Family - Make Disciples for His Glory!
Love God Completely
Love Yourself Correctly
Love Others Compassionately
Matthew 5:14–16 ESV
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Ephesians 2:10 ESV
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
1 Peter 4:7–11 ESV
7 The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. 8 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
