As I come forward at end of worship
SLIDE 1 WELCOME
Encouraging words from worship
Men’s breakfast
Ladies Swim
Ever thought about how many different things we all do in one day?
To get ready for work or school or priorities around the house, with our animals or pets
It would be a really long list for just one day wouldn’t it?
Many times when I lay down to rest.......I am so comforted meditating on the Lord or just saying Jesus Jesus Jesus......I need you
SLIDE 2 “ACKNOWLEDGE HIM”
It’s then that so many times the Holy Spirit reminds me of all the things the Lord has been with me throughout the day
Its also an amazing blessing to be going through our day and to connect the Lord’s presence or protection......His timing.....also knowing the Lord helped accomplishing a certain task......amen?
And definitely cannot leave out an answered prayer.....right?
In fact I feel the Lord woke me up one night this week to reveal this message for today
So as our title of the message “Acknowledge the Lord” for today says it........it truly is an amazing blessing for followers of Christ
SLIDE 3
Proverbs 3:6 NASB95
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
I think so many times we get caught up in legalism type check list, I need to do this...... or I need to do that..... because someone said or wrote I need to do to be a good Christian
As soon as we find we cannot accomplish all that man expects, we feel guilt or failure that we aren’t as good of a Christian as some expect us to be
Thus the cycle just continues over and over
I promise you this is not how Jesus came to earth teaching a relationship with Him
If you were to sum up all the stories in the gospels.......what would be a summary title?
I feel it would be “God starting a relationship with man”
I feel the Lord is wanting us in a way to “get back to the basics” so that we will enjoy our walk with Him......have the peace that He wants us to have........to know and realize we are constantly covered by His grace........that the Lord was with us through this and through that....that we would hear His loving voice speaking “I am with you!”....amen?
It’s really the Lord Jesus drawing us in closer with His love for us
This morning the Lord will use other books of His word to “in a way” circle around or rally around this Proverbs 3:6 verse today
Many times we do not realize .....or we forget very near verses or connecting verses bring a deeper understanding or trust in God’s word
As we see here ....lets look together
SLIDE 4
Proverbs 3:5–6 NASB95
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
Now first we need to be reminded how Solomon.......the wisest man to live.....was given the wisdom to write Proverbs......
And now secondly realize how brilliantly the Lord had revealed these verses......look very close again here at Proverbs 3:5 .
We know the Lord big time wants us to trust Him with all our heart right? Can we all agree here this morning that most often we tend to first lean on our own understanding
So verse 5 is a struggle sometimes......many times.....trusting the Lord and not our understanding
So back to the gospels ......the summary title of them “God starting a relationship with man”?
So how many times in the gospels did Jesus visit people, villages or families........ask questions, tell parables.......just see where people were at in their lives
How many times what was His main encouragement? Trust in God.......stop leaning on your own understanding
But also you have to see this in the gospels......so Trust in God......stop leaning on your own understanding.......and check this out......I AM the promised One.......I am here now.......and I AM with you
But this is how Holy Spirit had Solomon write this in the Proverbs and this is so exciting to see how He gave us this in His word
The first part of verse 6 is all the key to getting back to the basics
SLIDE 5
“In all your ways acknowledge Him”
“In all your ways acknowledge Him”.....can we just look at those words from the Lord.......now close your eyes and repeat that to ourselves......just take a few seconds and meditate on the word of the Lord
SLIDE 6
Proverbs 3:6 NASB95
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
Now open your eyes and see the whole verse
Church .....we need to be encouraged in order to learn to trust the Lord......to lean on Him and not our understanding.......to have our paths straightened up
SLIDE 7
Proverbs 3:5–6 NASB95
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
......what a wonderful simple thing.....with no other fine print.......24/7 in our lives do what? Acknowledge Him!!
I say fine print for a reason..........
Look at what the Hebrew meaning is for acknowledge is....another words how Solomon saw it in his days writing this
SLIDE 8
ACKNOWLEDGE
Wisdom or Skill in Judgement
Information and Focus on Relationship
Now what did the Lord encourage us to do this in throughout our day?
SLIDE 9
Proverbs 3:6 (NASB95)
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
SLIDE 10
Proverbs 3:6 (NASB95)
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
*wisdom and skill in judgement
......see that underneath.....you wanna talk about the Lord wanting to make our life more joyful and humbly covered by grace!
Can we all agree I could more be able to trust in the Lord and not lean on my own understanding.........if I first acknowledge Him .....in all my ways...... then I would have His wisdom and His skill in judgement......and have it joyfully and gracefully and humbly ....right
SLIDE 11
Proverbs 3:6 (NASB95)
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
*wisdom and skill in judgement
*information & focus on relationship
Isn’t this so encouraging that we can better enhance our relationship with God.......our walk with God.....our trust in God....and have better straighter paths
Now look at the difference this helps make for us in Romans that we all know and we all truly need to make it through the day or week sometimes
SLIDE 12
Romans 8:28 NASB95
28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
WORSHIP TEAM COME UP
In all our ways ......acknowledging the Lord......my relationship and focus with Him changes..........therefore a love for Him is enhanced......I now have His skill and wisdom to trust all things are gonna work out for good.....hallelujah?!!
But it does not end there.....it gets even better in Proverbs 3 take a look at the next 2 verses....wanna talk about get ready for the worship team time!!
SLIDE 13
Proverbs 3:7–8 NASB95
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. 8 It will be healing to your body And refreshment to your bones.
Is that not so amazing to learn or be reminded how these verses all connect in God’s word........bring us back to the basics......
How did Jesus mainly teach the people......different form the religious leaders, scribes and priests teach? He took all that complicated check list.....perform for God try to get results teaching and made it simple
SLIDE 14
Psalm 46:10 NASB95
10 “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
cease all that striving and just meditate on the Lord......take His yoke upon us for His yoke is easy and His burden is lite ..... acknowledge Him in which of my ways?.....all my ways!!....Amen!!
