I am the Good Shepherd to I am the Resurrection

Division amongst the Jews

Some said he has a demon

Others said He had power to open the eyes of the blind. Demons cannot do that

After all this, at the time of the feast of the Dedication, Jesus was walking in the temple and asked by the Jews,

How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.

He tells them again that if they were of the sheep, they would know.

John 10:28 ESV

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

I and the Father are one.

Jews stone him not for works but for blasphemy.

Believe in the works, recognize what He is able to do.

John 11

Lazarus is ill, Jesus is told of his illness by the sisters of Lazarus (Martha and Mary)

Jesus says the illness does not lead to death, but is for the glory of God. Son of God will be glorified through it.

They stay a couple days longer where they were, then after He tells his disciples that they would go to Judea.

Out of fear for the Jews, the disciples did not like the idea of returning to Judea.

They still go because Jesus insists that Lazarus has fallen asleep (meaning he’s dead). Disciples didn’t understand this, they took it as he must be asleep and will recover.

He explains that he has died and tells them that it was good that he wasn’t there so they would believe. Thomas jokingly says, “Let us go that we may die with him”.

What can be learned from this statement?

Christ has power over death

Promise of eternal life

Only requirement: Faith

This I am statement is more self-explanatory than the rest. Jesus speaks a plain truth, that He is that, the RESURRECTION and the LIFE. Each I am statement requires more thought to ponder what it means. This I am statement doesn’t, everything you hoped, dreamt of, and imagined is true. Life after death is promised through the person of Christ. Q
