Isaiah 6:1–9 (KJV 1900)
In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said,
Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts:
The whole earth is full of his glory.
And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. And he said, Go, and tell this people,
Hear ye indeed, but understand not;
And see ye indeed, but perceive not.

Current Condition in Israel

The book of Isaiah is one of the most beautifully written prophetic books of the bible. Isaiah is described as the Eagle Eyed prophet, because of the clarity and precision in which he is able to see and document events that would take place in the distant future.
In the book of Isaiah, 700 years before the birth of christ the prophet announced:
Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, And shall call his name Immanuel.
He prophesied,
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us fa son is given: And the government shall be upon his shoulder: And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 53:1–6 “Who hath believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, And as a root out of a dry ground: He hath no form nor comeliness; And when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: And we hid as it were our faces from him; He was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, And carried our sorrows: Yet we did esteem him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon him; And with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned every one to his own way; And the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Isaiah was the preacher, the Evangelist of the New Testament-
The first five chapters of Isaiah gives us information concerning the current state of the children of Israel.
In Chapter 1: Isaiah begins with a vision that addresses the sinfulness and rebellion of the people of Judah and Jerusalem. The Lord calls them out for their hypocrisy, pointing out that their religious rituals are meaningless because of their sinful behavior.
and so God responds by inviting the people to repent, promising that though their sins are like scarlet, they shall become white as snow if they are willing and obedient. But If they refuse, they will face destruction.
Chapter 2 speaks of the "Day of the Lord," a time of reckoning when the Lord will rise to shake the earth and judge the wicked.
Chapter 3 reiterates that the people will reap the consequences of their actions, and the Lord will judge them for their sins.
Chapter 4 goes on to list a series of "woes" (things that cause great sorrow or distress) that would come upon them for the blended forms of wickedness, including greed, drunkenness, pride, and injustice. The Lord's anger is kindled against these sins, and He promises judgment and desolation.
Chapter 5 Issues a warning of a foreign invasion that will bring devastation to the land as a consequence of the people's sins.
The people are in a terrible condition.
Application:
And truth of the matter is, Just like those the days of Isaiah, today, sin has spread across our world like a deadly pandemic. And the reality is that, there is a day of judgement coming upon the earth, where God will judge man for their evil and wickedness and disobedience. If we don’t turn to God as a nation, as a people, we will be severely judged.
When we get to Chapter 6, the focus shifts from the condition of the people, to the calling of the prophet,
Isaiah 6:1 Tells us, “In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.”

Early Reign and Accomplishments

Uzziah ,king of Judah, became king at the age of 16, and reigned for 52 years starting around 791 BC
Under his rule, Judah experienced significant prosperity and military strength. Uzziah expanded the kingdom's territory and fortified Jerusalem with towers and improved defenses.
He promoted agriculture and digging wells
Uzziah was also known for his innovations in warfare, including the development of machines to shoot arrows and hurl large stones.

Religious Observance

Uzziah was initially faithful to God, and as long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success.

Downfall and Pride

Later in his reign, Uzziah's success led to pride. He overstepped his bounds by entering the temple of the Lord to burn incense, a duty reserved for the priests (the descendants of Aaron).
The priests confronted Uzziah, but he reacted angrily. As a result, God struck him with leprosy, which he had until the day he died.
His reign is often seen as a time of both great achievement and a sobering lesson on the dangers of pride.
In The Year King Uzziah Died (Make it Personal)
Isaiah 6:1 “In the year that king Uzziah died (relationship to Isaiah) I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.”
Based on the reference in verse one, It is quite possible that Isaiah knew the King. Possibly someone close to him, maybe Uzziah was a mentor or as some speculate, he was probably a family member.
If this is true that Isaiah was connected somehow to King Uzziah, them we have to pause to observe an unstated tension in our text. The death of Uzziah would have had a direct effect upon Isaiah.
The tension of the effect of Grief that comes with suffering a loss and the possible effect that grief can have on an individual.
GRIEF
Grief and loss can have profound and varied effects on individuals, impacting their emotional, physical, cognitive, and social well-being. Here are some common effects:
Emotional Effects: Sadness and Depression: Persistent feelings of deep sadness and a sense of emptiness are common.
Anger and Irritability: People may feel angry, frustrated, or irritable, sometimes without a clear target for their anger.
Anxiety and Fear: Grief can lead to heightened anxiety and fear about the future or the safety of other loved ones.
Guilt and Regret: Feelings of guilt or regret about things left unsaid or undone with the deceased.
Numbness and Shock: An initial sense of numbness or disbelief, especially in cases of sudden loss.
Physical Effects:
Fatigue and Exhaustion: Grieving can be physically draining, leading to constant tiredness.
Sleep Disturbances: Insomnia or excessive sleeping are common.
Appetite Changes: Loss of appetite or overeating can occur.
Somatic Complaints: Physical symptoms like headaches, stomachaches, and muscle pains.
Cognitive Effects:
Difficulty Concentrating: Trouble focusing on tasks or making decisions.
Memory Problems: Forgetfulness and difficulty retaining new information.Confusion: Feeling disoriented or having trouble processing information.
Social Effects: Withdrawal: Avoidance of social interactions and activities that were once enjoyable.
Isolation: Feeling isolated or misunderstood by others who haven't experienced similar loss.
Relationship Strain: Grief can put strain on relationships with family, friends, and colleagues.Long-term Effects: Complicated Grief: Intense, prolonged grief that interferes with daily functioning.
Mental Health Issues: Increased risk of depression, anxiety disorders, and substance abuse.
Impact on Future Relationships: Difficulty forming new relationships or fear of loss in future relationships.
So There is apostasy all around Isaiah, and now he has to deal with the personal loss of someone he loved and admired.
The reality is none of us are exempt from tragedy, grief and losses. God uses these negative experiences to bring about positive change and the advancing of His Kingdom.
Samuel, How long will you mourn over Saul? Saul to David,
Moses my servant is dead, now get up and go posses the land
Elisha picks up the mantel of Elijah
Paul is convicted and fueled by the death of Steven.
Isaiah may have been depressed or discouraged because a great leader of Judah was no longer on the throne.
He must have been disappointed that The people turned their backs on God
And I believe He was asking the question: LORD where are you in all of this?
God Still sits on The Throne
And It is here that we can appreciate the text.
Isaiah 6:1 “In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.”
God in heaven now shows Isaiah, “Don’t worry about it, Isaiah. Uzziah may not be on his throne, but I am on My throne.”
The people may not give me the Honor that they should. They may be worshipping idols, But I am still enthroned in heaven, and I am still in charge of all creation. I am still the ruler of the universe.
Because sovereign kings sit on thrones. Judges sit on thrones. Those with proper authority and sovereignty sit on thrones. The Lord sits on a throne in Heaven!
But Isaiah was not alone in seeing God’s throne. Almost everyone in the Bible who had a vision of heaven, who was taken to heaven, or who wrote about heaven spoke of God’s throne.
The prophet Michaiah saw God’s throne (1 Kings 22:19),
Job saw God’s throne (Job 26:9),
David saw God’s throne (Psalm 9:4 and 7, 11:4),
the Sons of Korah saw God’s throne (Psalm 45:6, 47:8),
Ethan the Ezrahite saw God’s throne (Psalm 89:14),
Jeremiah saw God’s throne (Lamentations 5:19),
Ezekiel saw God’s throne (Ezekiel 1:26, 10:1),
Daniel saw God’s throne (Daniel 7:9), (I saw one)
and the Apostle John saw God’s throne (Revelation 4:1–11).
Revelation 4:2 “And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
In fact, the book of Revelation may as well be called “the book of God’s throne,” because God’s throne is specifically mentioned more than 35 times in that book!
Application: And it doesn’t matter what you are facing in your life right now. I came to remind you that HE IS STILL ON THE THRONE!
Uzziah Had To Die
Notice with me that Isaiah never saw the Lord until after Uzziah died.
Your Uzziah can be anything in your life that distracts your vision.
Some of us will never catch a glimpse of The Lord, until our “Uzziah” dies.
Your Uzziah might be a godly mentor, a vibrant church, a saintly friend. But until your Uzziah is less important to you than the Lord is, you’ll never really see Him. Don’t fix your eyes upon a fellowship, a ministry, or a man. Your eyes need to be on the Lord Jesus Christ alone. And, because He wants to fill you with a vision of Himself, your Uzziah will die in one way or another.
Some friendships must die
Addictions must die
Ungodly lifestyle must die
Doubt must die
Unbelief must die
Fear must die
Disobedience must die
Bad habits must die
Some soul ties must die
They are a Uzziah in your life! Python in your life suffocating your joy, your freedom and your future!
There are three things in our text that happened to Isaiah as a result of Uzziah’s death. If you can ever get freed from your Uzziah, God is about to bring you into a deeper understanding you will b to experience.

Revelation of God’s Power- HE SAW / TRAIN

The word Train is the Hebrew šûl which means seam, edge;
According to Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary it is a part of a gown that trails behind the wearer
Outer Garments-Also: Cape; Cloak; Clothing; Mantle; Outer Garment; Robe
More specifically, the hem is the edge of a piece of cloth that is finished and has been doubled under and stitched down.
So the “Train of Robe” was the out seam at the edge of the outer garment. The focus is placed not just on the robe itself but the Outer edge of the robe, called the “Train of the Robe”
What is so significant about the train or the edge of the Garment?
Reference
In the book of Ruth we find where Ruth ask Boaz to throw his Robe over her, she is not being improper. She is asking him to marry her and give her his protection.
The Hem- Authority
Rank or authority in the ancient days was worn in the the robe or skirt. While in our culture, the rank of a soldier is worn on the sleeve. In that culture it was embroidered on the edge of the outer piece of garment.
It often held the genealogy, or special role or title of the individual.
A contract was sealed by impressing the embroidery into the clay tablet;
a divorce could be accomplished by ripping off the hem of the bride.
Heme was a symbol of Authority
David cut off the hem of Saul’s garment, but then later on regretted it. because he tampered with the king’s authority.
In God’s covenant with Israel, God Says of Israel” I will Spread my skirt over you. That was God saying I will put my authority and protection over you. Ezek 16:8
Remember the woman with he issue of Blood in the Gospels. She pressed her way through the crowd, because she thought to herself, if I could just touch the hem of His Garment I will be made whole. She saw authority in he hem.
Filling the temple
More than just filling the temple, physically. This could also speak to God’s authority filling the temple. The Throne and the authority of God filled the temple.
Reminds me of Acts chapter 2 where the sound from Heaven came in like a mighty rushing wind and filled all the house where they were sitting and filled all the people.
APPLICATION:
God is in this house today. His Train fills the temple!!! You are the temple of the Holy Ghost
When you come into the House of God. We need to cry Holy Holy Holy to the one who sits on the throne.
Honor him, reverence Him TOUCH
Let him come in and fill your house!!!
In Spite of what you are going through, If you can see His Authority, you wont be depressed, you will leave with confidence. Everything is going to be alright
When he comes there should be a sound of worship and praise! They were in the temple continually singing and praising God!
They spoke with tongues!
You need to let him fill you up until you speak in tongues
God requires purity- Holy Holy Holy
Isaiah 6:5–7 “Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.”
What was Isaiah’s reaction when he saw the Lord? In the first five chapters, he was saying, “Woe unto you. Woe unto you. Woe unto you.” But when he saw the Lord, he said, “Woe is me.” That’s always the way it is.
When Peter realized who Jesus was, he fell down in his boat and said, “Depart from me, Lord, I am a sinful man” (Luke 5:8).
When John saw the Lord on the isle of Patmos, he fell down as though he were dead (Revelation 1:17).
Something about a revelation of God’s authority, his Weight, that causes us to see a reflection of our imperfections.
But There is a safe place in His presence. His grace is greater than all my sins. If we will confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all of our unrighteousness.
Being Cleansed Isaiah next hears the Voice of God and receives a

Revelation of Your Purpose - HE HEARD (Lord I’m available to you)

Isaiah 6:8 “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”
Speak Lord
He is looking for partnership
He presented His Purpose, His Heart
You can settle with just seeing God afar off but I want to be close enough in order for you to hear him.
The Lord then asks, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" Isaiah responds, "Here am I. Send me!"
Points
God didn't force Isaiah, He presented a need.
Isaiah didn’t say, send someone else.
Isaiah volunteered. I will go, I will serve. I will commit. I am available. I say yes
(Call to pastor TODAT- Esther) IF you don’t go, someone else with reap the blessing.
In Chapter 1-5 God points out the need! People in sin, heading for judgement. In Chapter 6 God allows Isaiah to witness his power and authority.
Isaiah has been there, he has seen what God can do. Now he feels responsible and empowered to go!
Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
Condition of Canarsie (91,000 reasons)
People are hurting! We have a responsibility to share what we have seen.
We are Witnesses-
There is A cause
God is looking for Partnership
Will you go?
Will you go? Whether that means across the seas or across the street, around the block or around the office, will you tell people about the One who saved your soul? Daniel 12 says those who win souls are wise and that they shall shine as the stars forever. But if that concept is too hard to grasp, ask anyone who’s been witnessing or on the mission field and they’ll tell you they find it to be wonderfully fulfilling and addicting in the best sense of the Word. You see, the Holy Spirit is like electricity. He’ll only go into an object if there is a way out of that object. People wonder why the Holy Ghost isn’t moving in their lives, but it’s because there’s no outflow. Plug into ministry, sharing, missions—and you will feel the current of the Holy Ghost flowing through you.
Isaiah: An Introduction and Commentary (a. The Individual, Atonement and Commission (6:1–13))
8. The immediate effect of atonement is reconciliation. Isaiah first saw the Lord afar off (1), but now he is near enough to overhear the divine musing. But he finds that being joined to God means joining a missionary society: he has been brought in in order to be sent out.

Revelation of God’s Plan - Preach The Gospel

You wont know whats around the corner until you first Commit
The Mission: The Lord commissions Isaiah to go and speak to the people, but warns that they will not understand or perceive his message. He is to tell them, "Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving." The hearts of the people will be calloused, their ears dull, and their eyes closed, so they will not turn and be healed.
Duration of the Judgment: Isaiah asks how long this judgment will last. The Lord replies that it will continue until cities lie in ruins without inhabitants, houses are left deserted, and fields are ravaged. Even if a tenth remains, it will again be laid waste. However, a stump will remain, symbolizing a holy seed and a remnant that will survive.
Romans 10:14 “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?”
John 4:35 “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.”
Matthew 28:18–19 “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”
Jonah- Ran from the mission. But when he obeyed, he saved an entire city
