Text: Isaiah 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, And he shall divide the spoil with the strong; Because he hath poured out his soul unto death: And he was numbered with the transgressors; And he bare the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.
Intro: As we finish our study on this chapter we end with a verse that begins with an exclamation point, (dealing with the glorification of Christ and His kingdom!) and then ends by bringing us to the day that he poured out his soul unto death…
The Bible gives us very important conjunction that indicates a very important cause and effect!
Because...
Every promise that was given concerning Christ and the salvation offered through Him was contingent upon Him pouring out His soul unto death…
Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
An everlasting covenant...
Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
In this we have the context of…
Behold, my servant shall deal prudently,
He shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.
and further understanding of...
I will declare the decree:
The Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son;
This day have I begotten thee.
Ask of me,
And I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance,
And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
(Part B) “...Because he hath poured out his soul unto death: And he was numbered with the transgressors; And he bare the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.”
Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
What about that intercession? This is maybe one of the most remarkable prophecies given and fulfilled… This is beautiful...
Read: Luke 23:33-49.
Of course what a beautiful representation of what Christ would do for us as well!
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
