And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
Among Us
Among Us
Labor- toil as plowing a field.
The toil of pastors is in the ministry of the Word and Prayer.
A number of other labors have taken up time for pastors throughout the centuries. Visiting the sick, counseling, instructing, baptizing, marrying, and burying.
Paul’s main concern here is to stress the labor involved in pastoring as hard work.
Responsible
Responsible
Responsibility is not the same as ownership.
But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Serve,
Lead
Admonish
Instruct believers in areas of their conduct.
This is exemplified in 2 Thessalonians 3:14
And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.

Not Exalted
Not Despised
But Respected
1 & 2 Thessalonians—The Hope of Salvation The Congregation and the Pastor
If we believe the gospel and we believe Christ has forgiven us, we should be able to work through our difficulties with respect for one another. Pride destroys peace, but the gospel brings peace and well-being
