A sure foundation!

Ephesians 2:17–22 (NIV84)

“He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”

Illustration: “How many of us would hire a contractor to build our dream house or your “forever home” if he did not use blueprints? If he used your life savings to build your house without instructions? can imagine the results: #1 He poured the foundation in the wrong place. He put the electrical wires where the hot water pipes should go. He made your bedroom the size of a phone booth and your fireplace ends up in a closet!

You would never entrust your house to a contractor without some plan or blueprint. In the same sense, God would not build His church without a blueprint. Unlike the contractor, God made certain that His foundation was sure by making Jesus Christ the chief cornerstone.

Ps 118:22-23

“The stone which the builders rejected

Has become the chief corner stone.

23 This is the LORD’S doing;

It is marvelous in our eyes.”

Because the Cornerstone is in place, every other stone will be in line, and the church will be built the right way. This is one building project that is very important to God. Our investments, although they have cost us much! God’s investment cost Him far more—His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
