What do I do when I am on God’s Path? Romans 12:1-2
Introduction
Highlight of the day?
Has anyone memorized Psalm 25:4 “Make your ways known to me, Lord; teach me your paths.”
How many of you have ever helped a parent or grandparent try to build something?
When i was moving into my apartment i had ordered a whole slew of things from Amazon, I ordered my desk, chair, living room table, bed, bed frame.
Jackson struggled but eventually got it.
David did not read his instructions, totally messed up the chair.
Tonight we will be looking into the guide that we have to answer the question
What do I do when I am on God’s Path?
Romans 12:1–2 “Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”
Give your whole life to Jesus V.1
Who is Paul talking to? Other Jesus followers in Rome. He has gone through the first 11 chapters of Romans breaking down the theological side of Christianity. How we are saved by faith, how Jesus is the atonement for our sin. God sent Jesus to save Jew and gentile both.
Define mercy. Grace is getting something we do not deserve. Mercy is punishment being withheld from us. We received mercy from God that he withheld the punishment of eternal seperation from Him in Hell, and he put it on Jesus.
Romans (1. Among Believers (12:1–21))
Believers are exhorted to “make a decisive dedication” (Berkeley) of themselves as worshipers stepping forward to place their offerings on the altar. Holiness of life rarely progresses apart from deliberative acts of the will. While sanctification is gradual in the sense that it continues throughout life, each advance depends upon a decision of the will. That the sacrifice is “living” reflects the voluntary nature of the act. F. F. Bruce comments that “the sacrifices of the new order do not consist in taking the lives of others, like the ancient animal sacrifices, but in giving one’s own.”7 Such sacrifices are “holy and pleasing to God.” They are worthy of his acceptance. The possibility of bringing pleasure to God provides a powerful motivation for complete surrender of self.
Since we have received this mercy we should live a life for him. Why would we do otherwise?
Story of me and breaking the window on my moms van.
How do i do this?
First we must have a relationship with Jesus?
Do you have to know everything?
No, it is a process.
Be transformed to be Christ-like, not conformed to the world V.2
Share my testimony with the kiddos.

If we are not be conformed into the world, then we are to be transformed into something else.
What is that?
Philippians 2:5–8 “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”
How are we able to look in our life to see if we are living a Christlike life?
Accountability
My guy is Jackson, and John here in Franklin. I have a mentor his name is Jason.
The fruits of the Spirit Vs. The flesh
Galatians 5:19–21 “Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Galatians 5:22–23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
Reading the Bible- Not just knowing it, but believing it. Trusting in it. Spending time with it. Where do you spend most of your time?
Prayer life?
How do I pray?
It does not have to be some strong articulate prayer. The Father just wants you to spend time with him.
Small Group questions
Why are we told to be a living sacrifice to God?
What is our true worship?
How are we able to be transformed to be like Jesus, rather than conformed to the world?
Of the practical steps Bubba talked about tonight for us to be transformed to be more Christ-like. What do you need to focus on? (Those being: Accountability, Reading and trusting in God’s word, prayer, identifying the fruits of the flesh or the Spirit, Obtaining a mentor).
