The Wondererous World and Works of God
Wednesday Psalms Greatest Hits; Psalms 19
Psalm 19 is to me so powerful. I believe that it is divided into 3 section’s.
The Wonder of God’s World. V/1-6 The Wonder of God’s Word V/7-11 How we respond to this revelation.
1. Let’s begin: The Wonder of God’s World
Psalm 19:1–6 NKJV The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.
2 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,
5 Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.
6 Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.
Wow! When we look at all of this amazing Universe, we have to think that God created all with a word.
Genesis 1:14–16 (NKJV) 14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;
15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.
16 Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.
Hebrews 1:1–2 (NKJV) 1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
2. The Wonder of God’s Word
Psalm 19:7–11 (NKJV) 7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
8The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
9The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward.
First He talk’s about this amazing Universe that people have been studying for thousands of years, and now He goes and put’s the Word of God right up there with it.
Why, it’s because the Word made all of this.
John 1:1–5 (NKJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shined in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 1:10 (NKJV) 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
John 1:14 (NKJV) 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
What and amazing God we serve
3. How we respond to this revelation.
The proper response to God’s revelation is humility and prayer.
Psalm 19:12–14 (NKJV) 12 Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.
13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
It always goes back to us letting the word take first place in our live.
So as we read and meditate on this Psalm, let’s look at the wonder’s of our God.
