Workers Covenant (Bylaws)
Workers Covenant (Bylaws)
Believing that God has given me the privilege to serve Him through this local church and believing that the privilege of guiding people in the Christian way of life is worthy of my best, I Covenant, as a worker at First Baptist Bethel Springs, to:
· Order my conduct in keeping with the principles of the New Testament and seek the help of the Holy Spirit, that I may be faithful and efficient in my work
Therefore I, the prisoner in the Lord, urge you to walk worthy of the calling you have received,
Avoid irreverent and empty speech, since those who engage in it will produce even more godlessness,
· Be regular and punctual in attendance; and, in case of unavoidable absence, give notice thereof as far in advance as possible
In this regard, it is required that managers be found faithful.
And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.
· If a teacher, make thorough preparation of the lesson and for the duties of each week.
Remind them of these things, and charge them before God not to fight about words. This is useless and leads to the ruin of those who listen. Be diligent to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.
Paul is writing of being an approved worker.
· If a teacher, I will use the Bible with my group on Sunday, or other meetings, and help them to understand and love it
I will delight in your statutes;
I will not forget your word.
Your word is a lamp for my feet
and a light on my path.
· Contribute my tithe to my church’s budget
Bring the full tenth into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house. Test me in this way,” says the Lord of Armies. “See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure.
· Attend the planning meetings
“For which of you, wanting to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, after he has laid the foundation and cannot finish it, all the onlookers will begin to ridicule him, saying, ‘This man started to build and wasn’t able to finish.’
· Visit prospects frequently and make a special effort to contact absentees each week.
Everyone should look not to his own interests, but rather to the interests of others.
· Cooperate wholeheartedly in the plans and activities of the church
For we are God’s coworkers. You are God’s field, God’s building.
· Be loyal to the program of the church, striving to attend all worship services
not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.
· Make witnessing a major endeavor
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
but a cunning person takes lives.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
· Seek to discover and meet the needs of those with whom I come in contact, especially fellow church members and prospects for the church
Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
· Pray regularly for the church, the officers, the teachers and for the pupils and the homes for which they came 1 Thessalonians 5:17
pray constantly,
· Apply the teaching of Christ in moral and social issues to my everyday life (James 1:22
But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
· Recognize that if I become unwilling to or cannot fulfill the duties I am doing, strive to get help to accomplish the task or step aside and allow someone else to do God’s work here.
Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—making the most of the time, because the days are evil.
Teach us to number our days carefully
so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts.
With the Help of God, I will do my best to keep this covenant.
