Ready – Christina Jones
Good evening CR family my name is Christina Jones and I have victory over life controlling anger and compulsive binge eating, I am currently working on control and my overall health.
I don’t know about you guys but Thursday nights are my favorite night of the week, coming together and walking through our recoveries together and with God fills my cup so I can keep going and continue growing and improving. Tonight I am so blessed to be able to share a lesson with you on being READY. As I am sharing tonight I am asking a favor from you all, anytime I say Are you Ready I want all of you to shout with all your might I AM READY!
Before we get started Are you ready? (pause for them to say I’m ready)
We are now into Principle 5 and step 6. Let’s look at these and their corresponding verses.
Principle 5: Voluntarily submit to every change God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects.
“Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires” Matthew 5:6
Step 6: We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” James 4:10
Are you ready? (pause for them to say I’m ready)
Once you get to step 6 you’ve already done a lot of work.
· You’ve admitted you have a problem and that your life was unmanageable on your own.
· You’ve come to believe that God could and would help you.
· You’ve sought Him and turned your life over to him.
· You’ve written your spiritual inventory.
· You’ve shared that inventory with God and another person.
You’ve been really busy! You may be thinking man I’ve done so much already I need to slow down or take a break or I’ve gotten some healing I can stop now, please don’t stop now! You’ve made it to the half way point but the journey is not over yet!
If you’re new to CR don’t worry we aren’t asking you to jump into step 6 right now, recovery is a process and everyone should start at step one. Our goal is that each week you take away something that will help you along your own journey toward recovery.
Tonight we are going to answer the question, “What does it mean to be ENTIRELY ready?”
Most of us walked in here with a specific defect in mind that we wanted God to change in us. This step can be painful for many of us because we may not be ready for God to remove all our character defects. Many of us enjoy or are comfortable with some of our character defects. However
