INTRODUCTION
What an incredible week this has been!
If you were involved in VBS this week, please stand so we can thank you properly
We had 94 registered students
64 volunteers
thousands of M&Ms
Lot’s of coffee
We collected $413 in change
which equals to 1633 meals for the children’s hunger project
and most importantly, we had three professions of faith
that we’ll be following up with
Tonight begins our follow up with all the children that came
We are going to begin by praying for each and every child by name tonight
so if you want to help with our follow up
tonight at 5PM come and be part of the prayer time
to pray for each of these children
Also, I don;t know if you caught our shameless plug for next year
Next year is Wonder Junction
The dates are earlier next year
so parents that want to bring your childrfen
and volunteers who need to take off vacation

Let me help you with that
Our mission at Riley’s Creek Baptist is to
Introduce People to God
Develop Followers of Jesus
and to Deply them into the world
Vacation Bible School gives us the opportunity to do all three
as we introduce children and parents to who God is
and we can help disciple-build people
as better followers of Jesus
and then send them into the world to tell everybody what they’s learned
VBS gives us the opportunity to do all three
and to do it in a creative way each year
We’ve had such a great time teaching these kids all about the Bible
on our Jungle Cruise through the Seven C’s
This morning we are going to go through the seven C’s as a recap
and I am going to do the impossible for me
and go from Genesis to Revelation in less than 30 minutes!
Creation

It all begins with Creation
There are two views of creation.
One comes from man, and the other comes from God
Man’s version begins with a tiny speck we’ll call Dot
Dot was tiny, but not lightweight
Dot had all the ingredients for the entire universe squished inside of it
Dot was uncomfortable with all that stuff in there
and one day, Dot just expanded with a big bang
I don’t know about you
but anytime I think of an explosion, I think of chaos
but the writers of Dot’s story say that this explosion was different
they say that the stuff that exploded started to organize and arrange itself
without any help of an intelligent person or designer
So we are going to sit and watch these things
to see if they can arrange themselves to make a book or something
We’ll wait...
Of course they aren’t going to form anything, that’s impossible
But in the story of Dot, as billions of years went by
all the stuff became complex galaxies along with our sun, moon, and earth
None of the stuff that came from Dot was alive
but somehow after millions more years
it turned into living things
then they changed into perfectly formed plants and animals we know today
It even turned into you and me
It’s the theory known as evolution - molecules to man evolution
or better known as the goo to the zoo to you
The second idea is actually an account found in the first chapter of Genesis
God gave us the Bible, and He is truthful
so we can trust what He says
According to God, the universe was not created billions of years ago
but just thousands of years ago
1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
If you were to read further
Verses 1-5 - Day 1 - tell how God created light, day, and night just by speaking
God created light to shine on the earth, making day and night
but it was not the sun
Verses 6-8 - Day 2 - tell how God separated the waters on the earth and above the earth
He created the atmosphere that we need to breathe
and a beautiful place to live
Verses 9-13 - Day 3- tell us that God made the dry land appear
and how God created plants, trees to provide for the animals and humans that would soon be living here
Verses 14-19 - Day 4 - God made the lights in the heavens - things in outer space
God created these so we can know the seasons, signs, days and years
Verses 20-23 - Day 5 - God made swarms of seas creatures and flying creatures
Creatures such as plesiosaurs, pteranodons, and pterodactyls
Verses 24-25 - Day 6 - God created land animals, including the dinosaurs
Verses 26-27 - God made man and woman named Adam and Eve
God placed them in a garden called Eden
and their job was to take care of it and enjoy it
God made people in His image
and we are special and set apart from the animals
which is why we should treat each other with respect and care
Verses 29- 2:3 tell us a couple more interesting facts
first all the animals and humans ate only plants
That means that Tyrannosaurs would only have been munching on berries, not other animals
and second our seven day week comes from the first week of creation
After the heavens and the earth were completed
God rested on the seventh day
not because he was tired, God never sleeps or gets tired
but he was setting an example for us to work hard and take time to rest
So we have on one hand the story of a non-living speck
exploding and turning into everything we see
On the other hand we have and all powerful all good God creating everything
If the story says that God created everything
and we follow the Bible in John 17:17
17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
If God’s Word is truth
than that should settle that argument
a big question is, who created the speck or the dot that started it all in the other story?
The next stop on our river cruise was a dark place
Genesis 3:1 (ESV)
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.
Satan used a serpent to ask Eve a question
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,
3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ”
The serpent then tells Eve she wouldn’t die
Instead that her eyes would be opened and be like God
That sounded like a good idea to her so she ate it
and gave some to her Adam who was standing next to her
Their disobedience broke the perfect, good creation.
Sin, which is disobeying God, was now part of the world
Instead of everything being all good
bad and sad things started happening
like animals attacking each other
and bushes having thorns
and people getting sick
Corruption
Corruption
That’s what Corruption means - good to bad
The result of sin didn’t just efect Adam and Eve
Because we all come from Adam and Eve
the Bible teaches that each person is born a sinner
Everyday we think things we shouldn’t
3 They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.
Bad weather, natural disasters all were caused by sin entering the world
22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.
As time went on, Adam and Eve had children
and each child was born a sinner and chose to sin
At one point the people became so evil
and there was so much corruption
that God sent a catastrophe

Catastrophe
This would be a global flood
One that would effect the whole world
as judgment on the whole world
Only a man named Noah, his family, and some animals were saved
on the ark that Noah built
The flood is a good reminder for us today to obey God
and to trust that he’s in control of everything
Do you realize that you are a sinner and need to be saved?
Do you need to trust the good and kind God to save you like Noah did?
Hold that thought
About 100 years later in Genesis 11 there was a tower
And this stop was called Confusion

The confusion the Bible speaks of happened over 4<000 years ago
Imagine a time when everyone on earth spoke the same language
Everyone also lived in the same place
the problem was everyone in the same place
all speaking the same language
came up with some bad ideas
They wanted to build a city with a tall tower in it
Why was this a bad idea?
God told them to spread out and multiply
but they stayed together and disobeyed God
why? so they could make a name for themselves
They didn’t want to scatter over the whole earth
they wanted to be comfortable and stay right where they were
and they wanted everyone to think they were great for building such a cool tower
So when the people didn’t obey God
God changed the way they talked
so they couldn’t understand each other anymore
Can you imagine being on a construction project
The Empire State Building is 1250 feet tall
and while you were working on this tower
at the 750 foot mark
suddenly the crew around you no longer can communicate to you
No Google translate, there was never another language in the world
One minute you are talking to someone
and the next minute you can’t understand them?
Everything would be mixed up and confused
People couldn’t work together
and then people couldn’t live together
So people begin to move to other places around the world
We have different language families today
All because of what took place at the Tower of Babel
But even though we may look different
and speak different languages
we all came from the same place
and that is Adam and Eve
We then move to the 5th C in the seven Cs - Christ

According to the Bible
Jesus is God’s Son
Before He came to earth, Jesus lived in Heaven
He lived there for all eternity past
He never had a beginning but has always been
He was there at the creation of the world
When Adam and Even sinned, the world became sinful and cursed
God promised a Savior would come to rescue people from living forever without God
The place people live without God is called hell.
God sent His Son, Jesus to earth
He was born as a little baby
and He grew up sinless and lived a perfect life here on earth
He did miracles and had power over everything
because He had made it all
He even has the power to forgive sins
That leads to the next C
The Cross
The Cross
The punishment for sin is death
Jesus was put to death on a cross because of our sin
even though He had never sinned
But after Jesus died
He rose from the dead on the third day
That’s good news!
Remember, you and I are sinners like Adam and Eve
and the people who wouldn’t get on the ark
and those at the tower of Babel
Everyone disobeys God’s commands
When you lie or are unkind to another person
or throw a fit
or gossip
that’s called sin
We deserve to be punished for our sin
When we die, we deserve to be eternally separated from God forever in hell
But Jesus took our punishment so we wouldn’t have to be punished
Some people ask, “So what’s the big deal if I sin?”
Well here is the big deal
Because we are sinners, we are unable to pay for this sin on our own
We aren’t allowed to live in heaven with Jesus when we die
God is holy and without sin
But God knew that and that’s why He sent Jesus
8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
but we don’t automatically get the free gift
And Jesus loves us so much that he was willing to die for us
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
So how do we pay for this gift to live forever with Jesus in Heaven?
We can’t pay for it
It’s a free gift that God offers
but we don’t automatically get it
You have to ask God for it
To receive the free gift
first you have to Admit you are a sinner
You have to believe that Jesus died for You
and then you forever receive Jesus as Lord and Savior
12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
If that’s you
Let me assure you under the authority of God’s Word
that you can admit, believe and receive today
in a moment we are going to have an invitation
and when we do, and you want to receive Jesus
I want you to come forward during the song
and I will be happy to show you in the Bible what it means to be a believer
The last C in the seven Cs is Consummation

Consummation
The word Consummation means completed
This is how things will end
We know things started out good
then the bad and sad stuff came along
Now we are in the god, bad, sad altogether
And we never know what each day is going to bring
Someday in the consummation
Anyone who has admitted they are a sinner
and trusted in Jesus
will live in a brand new place
the new heaven and the new earth.
The Bible says that God is going to make all things new someday
and we won’t live on this earth anymore
but on the new one
The best part is
no more bad or sad stuff
Only good stuff again
like back in the beginning
before Adam and Eve sinned
It will be forever wonderful!
4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
God wants everyone to join with Him in heaven
and when the new heaven and the new earth comes
He wants everyone there as well
but you can only be part of it if you are a believer in Jesus
and receive Him as Lod and Savior
