The Psalm Of Protection
Psalm 91:1–16 (NKJV) 1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.
4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.
8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”
This is a Psalm that I declare over myself, my family and you my precious Church family daily.
It is so powerful
Psalm 91 is also known as “The Soldier's Psalm”
A popular account from WWI tells of this psalm’s long-standing connection to warfare. According to the story, a commander in the US Army’s 91st Infantry Division gave each of his soldiers a card with the 91st Psalm printed on it. Soldiers took the cards into battle with the hope of being kept safe.
When the actor Jimmy Stewart enlisted in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, his father gave him a letter and enclosed a copy of the same psalm. Over time, Psalm 91 has become known as the “Soldier’s Psalm.” Even in recent years, American troops in Iraq have been known to read it before going on patrol.
The story also circulating that tells of a Brigade commander in WWI who gave a little card with Psalm 91 on it to his men who were in the Brigade of the same number – 91st Brigade. They agreed to recite this daily. The story goes that after they started praying this prayer they were involved in three of the bloodiest battles in WWI yet suffered no casualties in combat despite other brigades suffering as much as 90%.

Let’s dig in:
Psalm 91:1 (NKJV) 1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I got to admit in my walk with God, I tried to get to this secret place like it was a special place to be found, but once I learn of my identity of being In Him, I have found that I am already in this secret place, once I made Jesus the Lord of my life.
Acts 17:28 (NKJV) 28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’
1 Corinthians 1:30 (NKJV) 30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—
Psalm 27:5-6 (NKJV) 5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. 6 And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.
As I realized that I have found the fountain of youth as per say, I see that it is already done because of Jesus.
Psalm 91:2 (NKJV) 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
I need to say this, HE IS MY REFUGE, HE IS MY FORTRESS.
This show’s us Four things God is to those in the secret place or Born Again and under His shadow: HE IS:
1. A refuge or hiding place
2. A fortress or place of protection
3. A true and faithful God
4. A trust, a place of security
Psalm 91:3–4 (NKJV) 3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.
4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
God is our deliver, He will get us through it or to the other side.
Psalm 17:8 (NKJV) 8 Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings,
Psalm 91:5–6 (NKJV) 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
FEAR NOT CHURCH FAMILY:
Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) 10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Isaiah 43:1–3 (NKJV) 1 But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. 3 For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
Psalm 91:7–8 (NKJV) 7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. 8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.

11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
