Story of Joseph

God gave him dreams. Closeness with God.
Joseph shared his dreams. People didn’t understand. The same people that he thought should be happy, were upset with the dream.
felt like an outsider to. Brothers called him the dreamer.

Becomes a slave.

Brings food for brothers. They say, here comes the dreamer. cast him into a pit. All he was doing was obeying the father. But the brothers couldn’t stand Joseph. because of his dreams.
they cast him in a pit. they were going to kill Joseph, but instead they sell him to a band of Medianites traveling to Egypt.
Not fair.
Joseph was doing the right thing when bad happened.

Potiphar’s house

Joseph became a slave in Egypt. Went from fathers favorite son, to a slave.
But Joseph made the best of the the situation, and worked hard. The Lord showed Joseph favor. And blessed the work of his hands while he was a slave.
Potiphar’s noticed the blessing of the Lord, and made Joseph the head of the workforce. the head keeper of the house. a great position.
things were finally starting to look up for Joseph. he was getting some respect for being a hard worker. ]
One day while he was working, Potiphar’s wife wanted to talk to Joseph alone. (shouldn’t be alone).
She said, “i’ve been watching you for awhile, and i Like what i see”.
Joseph said, “I wouldn’t do that to God, or to Potiphar.”
Joseph didn’t hang around. He left quickly. Even though Potiphar’s wife grabbed him, Joseph slipped out of his coat, his jacket and got out of there.
Potiphar’s wife felt rejected, and wanted Joseph to pay. She had Joseph’s coat in here hand, and begin to shout rape! and as soon as the others workers came near, she told them the Hebrew slave tried to rape her.
once Potiphar got home from work, and got the news, Joseph was immediately put in the Egyptian prison.
but there was a time of extreme stress that Joseph went through. he felt the pressure of being falsely accused. “what do i do. I’m innocent. i would never do anything like that. I would do that to God, or myself.” that was a very hard couple of hours. alone again with his thoughts. no comforter.
Not Fair. What about my dreams? i thought you said i was going to see good things in the kingdom.
Joseph keeps his eyes on the Lord.
“I don’t know what you are doing Lord. But I am going to trust you.”
But still not fair.

Jail house

Joseph was now in prison, sitting in his cell. as he was sitting there, he was thinking “man, I need a job, something to do. can’t just sit here and do nothing.”
so he started to work in the prison.
in the end, Joseph made a decision to forgive.
the Lord was preparing him through the journey. Forgiveness isn’t always fair…
Peter once asked the Lord… how many times should we forgive someone? 7 times?
When we come to the Lord, we came from a place of needing mercy. Lord forgive me…. I don’t want what’s fair…. I need mercy. Because fair, means i am worthy of death. Seperation from God.
But instead, he doesnt do what is fair…
there was a debt collector, who wanted to get paid what was owed.
