The Mercy of God
Point of the message is to trust and depend on God’s mercy.
We must think of Him as such
He has revealed Himself to be merciful (Exodus 34)
The mercy of God was seen through Jesus in that He was “moved with compassion” and healed the sick.
King David and his choice to depend on the mercy of God.
2 Samuel 24:11-14
Romans 12:1–2“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
In view of God’s mercy.
Mercy: deals with misery and its relief. Mercy is not merely his pardon of offenders but his attitude toward man and the world generally. Mercy is both feeling and compassion (literally “from the bowels) in action.
Good Samaritan “had compassion” and acted decisively as benefactor to the wounded traveler.
