Redeeming Productivity
Introduction:
America has a problem, but more importantly, Christians and Christianity have a problem. We spend all week consuming media, we spend all week working, and we spend all week worrying. We all have bills to worry about, we all have our own families to worry about, and we all have personal worries to worry about.
“ I'm burnin' my candle at both ends, the only way to keep the fire goin', Is to outrun the wind, I can't wait to get up in the mornin', And do it all over again”
- Tim McGraw
With everything we have going in our lives, it's tough to slow down or even stop and think about when will meet Christ this week. Where am I going to meet Christ this Week? How long am I going to spend with Him this week
As Christians we shouldn't be speeding up to meet the work day, but slowing down to meet with Christ.
This morning I wanna talk about being stewards our time and be Productive for Christ
Matthew 25:14–29
Parable Break Down:
This Parable
This is a Parable of christ Leaving and Returning
2 of these servants are workers
1 of these servants are lazy
2 of the servants do something with their talents
1 servant does nothing
2 of the servants the master is pleased with
1 of the servants the master is angry with
2 of the servants go to heaven
1 of the servants goes to hell
Matthew 7:21-23 21
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Productivity is Life Stewardship
The men in this parable are servants, but after they are given the talents they become stewards.
Stewardship simply means looking after something on behalf of someone else.
We are bought with a prince.
1 Corinthians 6:20 “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
Which are WHO’S ???????
WHO’S ?????
BODY Belongs to WHO ?????
SPIRIT Belongs to WHO ????
TIME Belongs to WHO???
We are not all given the same amount to STEWARD.
Life not fair Then you die.
We must do the best we can with what we have :
Some will have Greater talents
Some will have more money
Some will have better health
Some will have more energy
Its not about competing with everyone else for who can be the most productive for christ, but rather its about Making the most of what the Lord has given us.
I read about a pastor that once said “I thank God that he didn't give me a bigger congregation.” He understood that he as the pastor would give an account for all the souls in his congregation. Instead of getting bitter with God about the size of his church, he had decided to be faithful with what he had.
We have a responsibility, to make a good return on whatever Christ has entrusted to us, no matter if its a big return or a small return.
Some of us might worry that we could never be as productive as so and so but its not race.
Some will have greater Talents
Some will have more Talents
Some will have more Money
Some will have better Health
Some will have more Energy
Christ is only concerned about what he has entrusted to us personally.
Conclusion :
Our calling as Christians is the highest calling there is, and the idea of being productive is not the invention of capitalism; it is the mandate of Christ.
— R.C. Sproul
At the end of the day no matter how loud People shout “MY BODY MY CHOICE” the truth is, its not there body, it has been bought with a price. You , Me all of us have been bought with a price. If we want to redeem productivity this is the first step. The world says its my life my choice, but christ says “you belong to me.”
Next Week we will cover the daily practices that are the cornerstone of redeeming and reclaiming a productive life for Christ. By giving Christ the first fruits of our day, and putting Life stewardship into action.
