What not to be
walks (passing by Listens) in the counsel of the ungodly
Nor stands (starts to be a part) in the way of sinners. He is around them.
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful. (Now comfortable and at home with the scorners.)
But
His delight (The new heart, new love, love God and His word) is in the law of the Lord.
In His law he meditates day and night. It fills him with joy, comfort, gives guidance is just good.
He shall be...
Like a tree.... (stable, firm, growing, fruit producing, pleasant to the eye, full of benefits, unmoving)
planted (we don’t just grow, but are planted in a prepared place by God, with every need met.)
rivers (steady supply)
prosperous in his soul and work.

The Ungodly

Are not so
We often look at the ungodly and are envious of there blessings.
Proverbs 24:19–20 “19 Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the wicked; 20 For there will be no prospect for the evil man; The lamp of the wicked will be put out.”
Psalm 37:1–4 “1 Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb. 3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.”
Psa 73: Read all of the Psalm.
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
If the godly one is a picture of stability, the ungodly is just the opposite. He is driven by the wind…
Having no substance, being pleasing to no one, of no use to anything.
His only purpose is to protect and help grow the seed.
There are interesting verses about the wicked and lost.
James 1:5–8 “5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
Psalm 35:3–5 “3 Also draw out the spear, And stop those who pursue me. Say to my soul, “I am your salvation.” 4 Let those be put to shame and brought to dishonor Who seek after my life; Let those be turned back and brought to confusion Who plot my hurt. 5 Let them be like chaff before the wind, And let the angel of the Lord chase them.”
Job 21:18 “18 They are like straw before the wind, And like chaff that a storm carries away.”
Isaiah 17:13 “13 The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters; But God will rebuke them and they will flee far away, And be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, Like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.”
Isaiah 29:5 “5 “Moreover the multitude of your foes Shall be like fine dust, And the multitude of the terrible ones Like chaff that passes away; Yes, it shall be in an instant, suddenly.”
Jeremiah 23:28 “28 “The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream; And he who has My word, let him speak My word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat?” says the Lord.”
Hosea 13:3 “3 Therefore they shall be like the morning cloud And like the early dew that passes away, Like chaff blown off from a threshing floor And like smoke from a chimney.”
Therefore;
The ungodly shall not stand in the judgment.
Matthew 3:12 “12 His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.””
1 John 2:17 “17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”
Nor sinners in the congregations of the righteous.
Hebrews 10:30 “30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.””
