Our Fortress

Our God VI
We are in the middle of a series on the book of Psalms
The book of psalms expresses worship. Psalms encourages people to worship God for who He is, and for what he has done, is filled with songs and poetry, but is also a prophetic book.
Is the longest book in the bible with 150 chapters, with the longest chapter, psalm 119 with 176 verses, and the shorter chapter in the bible 117 that has 2 verses.
Today we are on Psalm 91
It is conventional Jewish doctrine that Moses composed Psalms 90-100
Our God, Our Fortress
Let’s pray

1 Dwell in his shelter

Psa 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
Dwells in the shelter of the most High
Will abide in the shadow of the almighty.
Again this is a place that we can only enter, when the Spirit of God leads us there, like the secret place Jesus tell us to enter when we pray in Mat6
Psa 15:1 A psalm of David. LORD, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain?
This is how we can enter and live there
Psa 15:2 The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart;
purposely we live a life that pleases our God, my decision of walking in humility and repentance happens at home, before we leave the house, if we decide to make your choice after something happens may be too late. Make a choice to turn the other cheek ahead of time.
Psa 15:3 whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others;
Choose to bless others, as you weak up
Eph 5:19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,
Eph 5:20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Eph 5:21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Psa 15:4 who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the LORD; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind;
Ahead of time we make our decision to honor the godly and despise the ungodly. to keep our promises.
Psa 15:5 who lends money to the poor without interest; who does not accept a bribe against the innocent. Whoever does these things will never be shaken.
The qualification bar is pretty high, unless we have a relationship with Jesus and have received His forgiveness and justification we will not make it.
Psa 91:2 I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
My safe place a place of deliverance.
There is a place where we can live in the presence of God that is secure and safe, the most glorous place in the world.
I remember some years ago my sister 3rd sister began to work with Ywam Rio in one of the most dangerous neighborhood, Boreu montain, I remember driving by years, before, when I drove by it was fast with my windows closed and it was not because of the air conditioning the doors were locked too.
The leader of the ministry had worked out a deal with the drug lord who was leading the area, they would be able to work there and evangelize, also they could work with the children, if they would run a medical clinic for the community, the montains around Rio are comanded by drug Lords, no one goes up or down without their permition, there are heavely armed guys in very stratigics points monitoring all the time.
Some of these points are at strategic distance from the next mountain so from time to time they open fire against each other.
Sometimes my sister would arrive, and run for cover as bullets would be flying over her head, heating the wall behind her. But for all the years she worked there she was never harmed or robbed.
God blessed and protected them, no one was hit by any bullets or killed.
I remember talking to my sister it was the safest place in the world for her. The safest place in the world is the presence of God
During my days in Rio I also worked in another mountain, and they really liked us there, we worked with a church and we would run Sunday schools for their children.
No one would touch us because we were from the church, this was the place where most criminals would live because the police woudnt go up looking for them, they were heavily armed.
God is our fortress, here in Hawaii or any place in the world he calls you to go.
Psa 91:3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.
Psa 91:4 He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
Psa 91:5 You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
Psa 91:6 nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.
Psa 91:7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
Psa 91:8 You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.
He will keep you from all forms of evil seen and unseen,
On my second year in Ywam I had a room mate from Africa who had been kidnapped beaten and threatened to be killed daily, he would wake up just waiting for the orders.
Very traumatic until the day of his deliverance but, it was the presence of God who sustained him, yes he thought about committing suicide, but the Lord kept him away from doing it.

2 Let Him watch over us.

Psa 91:9 Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place— the Most High, who is my refuge—
Psa 91:10 no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent.
Psa 91:11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
Sometimes God will call us to go into areas infected with diseases, He will be our protection and shield, just don’t test Him, drink your filtered water, take malaria pills and take the vaccines you need for the area.
Let the impossible for Him you do the possible and be wise.
Psa 91:12 On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.
Psa 91:13 You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.

3 Just love Him

Love Him with all your heart, and he will hold on to you
Mar 12:28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
Mar 12:29 "The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Mar 12:30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'
Mar 12:31 The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."
Mar 12:32 "Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him.
Mar 12:33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."
Mar 12:34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God."And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.
If you agree with this statement you are not far from the Kingdom all you need to do is welcome Jesus as your Lord and savior.
Psa 91:14 “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name.
Psa 91:15 When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.
Psa 91:16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
we need to make Jesus the Lord of our lives.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Joh 3:16
To receive Jesus we need to accept Him as God’s son, repent from our sins and a life of selfishness, and we need to ask Him to be our Lord and savior, not that we deserve it, but is a gift from God.
If this is your desire today, please repeat this prayer after me?
Heavenly Father I’m sinner,
I’m sorry for my sins,
I’m willing to turn away from my sins.
I receive Christ as my savior,
I confess him as Lord
from this moment on
I want to follow and serve him,
in the fellowship of his church,
In Jesus name. Amen!
1Co 11:23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;
1Co 11:24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
1Co 11:25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
1Co 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.
1Co 11:27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
Heb 9:14 dead works, acts, sins
E mau aku ka loko maika’i o ka Haku, Iesu Kristo; me ke aloha a ke Akua, a me ka launa pu ‘ana mai o ka Uhane Hemolele ia ‘olua, a me makou apau. Amene.
