The Pharisees had lost sight of the purpose of the Sabbath and were only looking to see if Jesus would violate their rules and traditions. Jesus does the right thing for the man with a withered hand. He releases the captive, and gives freedom to the oppressed. He sets an example for our motivations in doing good for others.
