1 John 5.6-12
5.6-7 - water, blood, Spirit
1 John 5:9 “If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son.”
Baptism - immersion - water immersion
Acts 8:36–38 “And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?” And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him.”
1 Peter 3.18-22 (read)
3.21 - baptism is literally the ‘antitype’
It is placed opposite of something that has gone before, the true to the copy.

Message

Baptism now saves you (1 Peter 3.21).
We need saving from sin (Romans 3.23, 6.23).
Isaiah 59:12 “For our transgressions are multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and we know our iniquities:”
Acts 2.38, 22.16
Baptism demonstrates your allegiance (1 Peter 3.21).
The apostles assumed all Christians baptized.
Galatians 3.26-27
John the baptist’s disciples in Ephesus
Acts 19:3 “And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.””
Acts 19:5 “On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
Baptism is a confession of allegiance (Acts 22.16).
Baptism is death of the old person and resurrection to new.
Romans 6:1–4 “What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
Acts 2.38 (repent)
Baptism is when you are numbered with the saved.
1 Corinthians 12:13 “For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.”
Baptism brings you to the mountain of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 3.22).
You have not come to Mt.Sinai, “Indeed so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, I tremble with fear.” (Hebrews 12.21 )
Hebrews 12:22–24 “But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant… .”
Ephesians 2:6 “and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,”

Conclusion

One must go through the flood to get to the mountain.
Jesus’ grace saves.
It saved Noah (who built the ark)
It saved Israel (who walked around Jericho)
No one is saved without it.
Yet the one giving their allegiance will do it, how and when God directs.
As one who believes and understands
As one giving their lives and allegiance to Jesus
As one who repents, allowing God to kill and raise anew
If you have not been immersed in water like this, let’s do so today.
One who knows Jesus asked this and refuses, is not saved.
