The antidote to running away

Demas—once a “fellow laborer” of Paul, along with Mark and Luke (Col 4:14; Phm 1:24). His motive for forsaking Paul seems to have been love of worldly ease, safety, and comforts at home, and disinclination to brave danger with Paul (Mt 13:20, 21, 22). Chrysostom implies that Thessalonica was his home.

Dedication makes us do impossible things. It was dedication that caused the disciples to change their world—Acts 17:6. Paul asks that we present our body a living sacrifice—Romans 12:1, 2. 1.
General William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, was asked why he did such a great work for God. He replied, “God had every ounce of me.” Many want God’s blessings, but do not want to be “tied down” to God’s work.

1 Corinthians 12:1–31 God wants all Christians in the church to be participants—not spectators. No church becomes big, nor great, by accident. Great churches are made by cooperation.
