2 Kings 7:3 KJV 1900
3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?

Introduction

Someone has said that the definition of insanity is “doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”.

The Condition They Were In.

Samaria, the capitol of the Kingdom of Israel, was besieged by the Syria army.
The four men in our story had leprosy. They had to identify themselves to anyone that came near as “unclean”.
The best they could hope for was a few coins thrown their general direction out of pity.
Food was scarce for them even in good times, now it was non-existent.
The bible tells us the people were so hungry they ate their own children, and the king looked for Elisha the prophet to kill him.
Death was everywhere.
Every day they went to the gate, and finally one looked at the other and said “what we’re doing isn’t working”.

The Conclusion They Made.

2 Kings 7:3 KJV 1900
3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?
2 Kings 7:4 KJV 1900
4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.
Bro. Branham said they only had a little dingy faith, but it was enough to move them.
They did not realize that a vindicated prophet had already said “There will be bread in the city tomorrow”.
They only went because anything is better than what they were doing.
Many times Bro. Branham would speak to someone in a wheelchair or on a cot:
Like the leper setting at the gate said, “Why set we here till we die?” If they go in the city, at Samaria they was already starving, eating one another’s children, if they set there they died, they had to go down to the enemy’s camp. And they took that chance.
You don’t have to take that chance, you’re not invited to an enemy’s camp, you’re invited to the Throne of your Father that is expecting you to come tonight. 62-0622E - "Why?"
You are not Lepers sitting at the gate taking a chance on a miracle, you are sons and daughter of the King.
Why sit here till we die?
James 5:14 KJV 1900
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
James 5:15 KJV 1900
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
James 5:16 KJV 1900
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
We are not lepers, waiting on a handout from a denominational leader, we’re the wife of the King.
Why sit we here? The price has been paid.
Is your home life in chaos? Start having family prayer again.
Are you sick? Call the Elders of the Church to come lay hands on you.
Are you in financial need? Don’t sit there and worry about it, go to work.
Faith isn’t sitting at home worrying, faith is taking your resume to every business in town.
Why sit in church miserable, full of conspiracies and grudges? You’ll die there. Come to the communion table and let it all go.
Are you backslid? Up-slide.
What did you do when you backslid? You quit reading your Bible, quit listening to tapes, became unfaithful to church.
Do the opposite. Don’t sit there and die.
You don’t have to be what your parents were.
137. Brother Branham, I am saved and have been baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, but how do I get away from a stubborn spirit that I can’t seem to break away from?
Well, my Christian brother or sister, whoever it may be, now, most times when you find people that’s got stubborn spirits, it’s usually a complex that causes this, either they have inherit it from a mother, father, uncle, aunt, or grandmother, grandfather, somebody like that.
And if you’ll trace back down through your life, you’ll find…Now, I’ve taken this by experience, under discernment, because I have met cases on the platform, thousands of those that had that spirit.
And the first thing you know, I’d chase that spirit right back by discernment and find that there was a granddaddy, there was a grandmother, there was somebody else back down there, and you inherit that by nature.
Stubborn, stubbornness is not of God. And now the only way to get away from that is you have to have faith to overcome that, that, you are a Christian.
You are a son or daughter of God, whichever you may be, and you’ll never be able just to stand and rebuke it and rebuke it and rebuke it. It’s just like tantalizing a rattlesnake, he’s laying there ready to bite you. If you’ll just ignore him and walk away from him, he can’t hurt you. See?
So when you feel that you got a stubborn spirit, lay the thing on the altar, and believe God that the thing is dead and you’ll never have it no more, and go on and don’t even pay any attention to it no more, and the thing’ll leave you.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you, that’s, “get away quickly.” So that’s, would be my advice how to overcome it. We overcome the devil by faith. That’s what we overcome all evil, is by faith. 61-0723E - "God Being Misunderstood"
389. When a person realizes he has an inferior complex, or some sort of complex, how may he overcome this? So, should it be if he was the only child caused this in his early youth?
Take exactly the opposite. If you’re always wanting your way, and that one little brat that wants to always have everything your way, turn right back around and give everything you got the other way.
If you’re selfish and you want to hold everything, then start giving away what you got. See? Do whatever…Just go the vice versa. That’s the way to overcome anything, is an antidote.
My old, southern mother used to say, “Hair off the dog back is good for the bite.” And that applies this way too. 64-0830E - "Questions And Answers #4"
Are you discouraged? Encourage yourself in the Lord like David.
And if you notice, it’s when you are discouraged that’s when the devil can really pour it on you. That’s when He gets you. If you come to the church and say, “Well, I don’t know. I don’t know whether I’ll ever get any better or not. I’ve been prayed for twice.” Oh, my. You might as well go home; that’s all.
But when you can cast that aside…God don’t want you to be frowning. God wants you to be happy. The human heart was made to be happy. Worry will cause cancer. Temper will cause cancer. Don’t never be upset. Just walk in His love. Amen.
Knowing that you’re walking in Him, and nothing can harm you. There’s nothing can harm you. There’s neither powers, things present, things future, nothing can separate us from Him. We’re in Him.
And we never come in by our own will. He, by choice, elected us and brought us in to Him. Amen. So it’s His business to take care of what He’s took Hisself. “No man can pluck them from My Father’s hands, ’cause He’s the greatest of all of them.” Amen.
It’s the Father Who takes care of it. Who’s got any more power than God? So what kind of a power have you got over you to take care of you? The whole powers that created the universes. Amen.
That took the solar system and, “Phew!” blew like that, and every star went to its place. Sure. And He watches over you. Amen. That’s the kind of a Father we have. 56-0405 - "The Resurrection Of Jesus"
You can’t live like that, and you don’t have to.
Sir, you have cancer, yellow jaundice. You can’t live, laying there. That’s right. I don’t, I can’t heal you. But you couldn’t hide what’s wrong with you. See, it’s there. You, you can’t live sitting there, you know that, ’cause you’re gone.
They say it’s in your stomach, and it is. It’s in the liver, which is causing the jaundice to come up. But do you believe with all your heart, and ready now, like those men who laid at the gate down there at Samaria, say, “Why sit we here till we die?”
You’re going to die, laying there. You’ve only got one chance, and that is to accept Him while you’re in His Presence, and believe it with all your heart. Will you do that?
Then, in the Name of Jesus Christ, believe it with all your heart, and rise up, take your cot and go home, thanking and praising God.
Do you believe that? Oh, God will give him strength, don’t worry about that. If he…There he is, going to take his cot, fold her up and go home.
The rest of you believe? Stand up on your feet now. What about you getting up? I don’t care what’s wrong with you, raise up. Raise your hands and give Him praise. 64-0312 - "When Their Eyes Were Opened, They Knew Him"
(Man in a wheelchair)
You’re shadowed for death; it’s cancer in the lung. Would you believe that God will make you well? You do? Then if I was in your place, you know what I’d do?
There was some lepers set at a gate one time, and they said, “Why set we here till we die? Let’s get up and do something about it. If we set here, we’ll die. If we go in the city, they’re dying in there, so we haven’t got no choice. If we go down to the camp, they might spare us.”
You’re going to die in that condition setting in that wheelchair. Jesus Christ is your only Hope now. That’s right. So why don’t you rise up from there, and take your chair, and go home, and be well in the Name of Jesus Christ.
Do you believe, every one of you? Then stand to your feet. I don’t care what’s wrong with you; stand up on your feet and believe God. All that wants to receive Christ at this time, raise up on your feet, anywhere you want to.
Raise up your hands now in praise to God. Raise up your hands; believe Him. Here comes the man up out of the wheelchair. Let’s say, “Praise the Lord.” Everybody stand up regardless of your pain.
(Why would Bro. Branham make hurting people stand up? Because they would die unless they responded in faith.)
O Lord God, we look at the unseen; we believe now that You’re Jesus Christ the Son of God. We condemn every spirit of devil and doubt, may they walk by the unseen tonight. Grant it, Lord. Through Jesus Christ the Son of God, we ask it.
Praise Him with all your heart, get up out of your chairs, everywhere. Be well and healed in the Name of Jesus Christ. God bless you, brother; step out of there and go on home. Make you well. 59-0410 - "Looking At The Unseen"

Conclusion

Jesus asked the man at the pool of Bethesda “Wilt Thou be made whole?”. In other words “do you want to be well?” If so, rise up and walk.
When we come to the communion table, let’s leave the past in the past. Lord, I want to be well. I want to be a real Christian. I want to lay aside every besetting sin. He has made a way by His death on the cross for you to overcome.
