Culture
Culture
Our culture - our thinking, our speaking, our doing must be godly
We need to reflect the culture of the Kingdom
The Spirit within us does inspire and guide us to do such things
Do not be discouraged, do not give up - keep striving
Nature of the Kingdom
kingdom of Jesus is heavenly not worldly
Jesus said my kingdom is not of this world
there is no division between Father and Son
there should be no division in Christ’s church
Our Response
the bottom line is simple as Paul declares
Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity and godly sincerity. We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom but on God’s grace.
live with integrity - we do as per who we are in Christ
live with godly sincerity - we are not two faced
live relying on God’s grace
the kingdom of God is a kingdom of grace
Kingdom of grace
what is the essence of the Kingdom?
we need to know the kingdom - its foundation, its purpose, its processes
the kingdom has to be true to Jesus and to itself
there is a very illuminating encouter betweeen God and Moses on Mt Sinai
And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.”
the Lord uses his name Yahweh, twice to confirm it
he then descibes his nature, and by extension the nature of the kingdom
his first title is compassionate and gracious God
then comes slow to anger and abounding in love
this is contrary to how some see God
he is a compassionate and gracious God
and his actions are such - cannot be disputed
Throne of Grace
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
the throne is representative of the kingdom
it is defined by the king and is symbolic in every aspect
the authority and the power in the Kingdom is GRACE
it is my contention that kingdom culture is totally based on grace
Age of Grace
we are living in the age of dispensation of grace
God had a plan after his initial creation of all are good
the fall came and so there was a period of conviction - the uselessness of man’s effort for salvation
Jesus came, died and resurrected to restore humanity to the kingdom
believers in Jesus now has this confidence in the grace of God
Flavour of Grace
how does grace look like in us?
forgiving yet recognizing sin
responsible not proclaiming your rights
serving others rather than be served
genuine love of all with no barriers
going the extra mile
generous with time and money
Kingdom of man
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.
here at Liberty we must guard against
hollow philosophy - woke thinking
human tradition, especially of church practice
demonic influences - denying the truth of Jesus and scripture
Liberty
we will continue to search out who Jesus wants us to be
we will continue to search out how we respond in all matters
we will be humble in serving others
we will be proud of being in Christ
we will allow the Spirit to be our teacher and advocate
