Escape?
Escape?
1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. 2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; 4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
I want to talk about this GREAT SALVATION
If the old testament prophets were preaching in our churches today, what would they say?
They would be preaching repentance and Faith.
The Message is telling men and women how to be saved through Jesus Christ it is what we preach-
“the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (rev 19:10)
The rebukes voiced by God’s preachers, the warnings, the tears, the appeals, all revolved around the desire of God for his people to be saved. To tell of God’s love for lost souls is the supreme purpose of God for calling men into ministry.
God is longing for everyone to be saved
there are people today who will say, “God is to good to send anyone to hell”
Ezekiel 33:11 “11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?”
God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, God longs for everyone to turn from their evil ways and to live.
When someone chooses to reject God and thereby is lost, it should never be blamed on God. If they are separated from God by their own choice and die, they are responsible, not God. After death they must live with their own choices
Revelation 22:11 “11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.”
Praying for sinners
we have to pray for sinners.
to come to the knowledge of truth because that truth has freedom
1 Timothy 2:1 “1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;”
Preachers urging all to repent
We have to denounce sin and plead for repentance-we have an obligation to preach against sin so that hearts will be convicted of their sin and ask God’s forgiveness -
sinners need to be told about their sins and the need for forgiveness.
there are a list of sins
sins of omission-commission-hating-coveting-lying-cheating-worshipping idols(anything put above God)-forgetting God(today we see this one a lot)
The Holy Bible has numerous sins listed, Repentance is what the sinner need’s turning to Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour
You can have a new heart -will have a new heart
Ezekiel 36:26 “26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”
Salvation brings a change that old man is gone you are a new man
Inviting the lost to salvation
Romans 10:13 “13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Isaiah 1:18 “18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
Salvation is available to everyone so come when the Holy Ghost calls you
1. Salvation is Great in its cost
John 3:16 “16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
It cost God His only begotten son to make possible our salvation
It cost the Son every drop of His precious blood, to make possible our salvation.
every pain He suffered- soul, spirit and body - every tear He shed, every heartache he endured, every miracle He performed, every good deed He did, every step He walked on this earth, every lash they put on His back, the crown of thorns He wore on His head, the scourging, the mocking, the spittle on His face, the plucking off of the hair from His cheeks, the spikes in His feet, the terrible cry of agony “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me”? all these thing were necessary that we might be able to call upon the name of the Lord and be saved.
If Jesus had not prayed, “Father, if it be possible let this cup pass from me - nevertheless, not as I will but Thou wilt” He would have never have said “it is finished” and if He had never said “it is finished”, we could have never called upon His name and found salvation.
The most valuable thing ever known is Our Salvation. We are purchased at the tremendous price of His shed blood
Yes, this salvation is Great in its cost
Because of God’s Great Love
Ephesians 2:4–5 “4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)”
Acts 8:8“8 And there was great joy in that city.”
Because of God’s great love toward us we now have Great Joy - Great peace -
This glorious salvation that we posses in Christ Jesus is great in its accomplishment - payoff - fulfillment
This salvation that we have in the Lord Jesus Christ saves us from the penalty of sin. The wages of sin is death. Death and sin go hand in hand . But we are delivered from the power of death.
Ephesians 2:1 “1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;”
We are saved from the penalty of sin and,
This great salvation saves us from the power of sin.
“We are more than conquerors through Him That loved us”
We conquer because God lives in us.
1 John 5:4 “4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”
Church if you have this Great salvation you are redeemed you have been bought with a great price you are not going to have to suffer the consequences of sin you will not have to feel the wrath of an almighty God the price of sin has been paid for you
you are full of Joy - peace - God’s grace and mercy came down on you
If you don’t have this great salvation then it’s going to be bad and I mean bad You are going to feel God’s wrath in Hell - eternal torment - gnashing of teeth - pain forever more - darkness - the absence of God
But God provided a way of escape His darling Son Jesus Christ payed the price for you and me - today is the day of salvation don’t put it off the only way to escape Hell I repeat the only way to escape hell is JESUS CHRIST - what a GREAT SALVATION
