The ALL Call

Good morning Church!

Bibles out Psalm 96.

Doing things a little bit different this morning.

We are going to jump right into the word…

Usually we worship together first…

Then we get into the word together…

Today we are going to do it backwards from how we normally do it

And here is why…

As we read Psalm 96 today, and walk through it line by line…

God’s word is going to lead us to WORSHIP!

After we dive into the word for a bit…Pastor Brad is going to physically lead us from stage…

But its the Lord through His word this morning that is going to truly lead us into a time of worship…

The Lord is going to show us 2 THINGS today in this Psalm…

WHO IS CALLED TO WORSHIP HIM

and

HOW HE SHOULD BE WORSHIPPED

And as the word of God answers these questions its going to lead us to a spirit filled, God exalting, VERTICAL time of worship together…

YALL WITH ME?!?!

Lets dive in!!!

Again open up to PSALM 96…

The Lord is working through King David here in Psalm 96 to lead us to worship

BUT FIRST…WILL YOU PRAY WITH ME???

(PRAY)

So…the first thing I told you we would see today is…

WHO IS CALLED TO WORSHIP THE LORD????

What David will show us in the first 6 verses of Psalm 96…

is that …

ALL ARE CALLED TO WORSHIP THE LORD BECAUSE OF WHO HE IS.

Lets dig into this church…

Look at the first part of this statement…

All are called to worship the Lord…(v. 1-3)

Is that really what the word says???

Lets get into it and see…

READ VERSES 1-3

Notice what the bible says hear in verse 1…

“Sing to the LORD …ALL THE EARTH!”

Say it with me church…

SING TO THE LORD… ALL THE EARTH!!!!

NOT JUST THE JEWS IN THE TIME OF DAVID…BUT ALL THE EARTH

ALL who believe in the Lord are called to SING WORSHIP to HIM!!!

This is a call for ALL OF US TO OPEN OUR MOUTHS AND SING TO THE LORD IN WORSHIP!

David says it 3 times…Sing to the Lord…

Sing a new song…

Sing all the earth…

Sing blessings to His name…

This is a command church…

IF YOU BELONG TO THE LORD…ONE OF HIS CHILDREN…

YOU ARE CALLED to SING worship to the Lord…

NOTICE THIS AS WELL!!!

Notice He is the audience!!!

Your not singing to me…to the row in front of you…

your not singing just because your at church and this is the routine…

YOUR SINGING TO THE LORD

So…It doesn't matter how good your voice is…

It doesn't matter if your shy…

this is a command to SING to the LORD…

I mean directly TO HIM!!

When you are worshipping…it isnt just going through the motions…

I mean if JESUS was standing in front of you face to face…

Would you just stand their…hands in your pockets looking at Him???

NO!!!

You would be singing praises to Him UNASHAMEDLY!!!

THAT IS HOW THE WORD OF GOD CALLS YOU TO WORSHIP…

TO SING TO THE LORD…

(PAUSE)

Sing what to Him???

TELL of His Salvation…

This is even greater now than it was in Davids time…

In the time of this writing David is speaking of how the Lord had “saved Isreal from countless situations”

But this rings different in our ears doesn't it church??

The LORD didn't just save us from trial in our life but Jesus is our ULTIMATE SALVATION!!!

WE ARE ETERNALLY SAVED THROUGH FAITH IN THE SHED BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST!!!

WE HAVE THE GOSPEL TO PROCLAIM IN WORSHIP CHURCH!!!!

DAVID IS PROCLAIMING A PROMISE TO COME…

WE TODAY PROCLAIM A PROMISE FULFILLED …AMEN!!

OUR SALVATION CAME IN THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS CHRIST ON THE CROSS!!!!

We are to SING THAT SALVATION EVERY DAY CHURCH!!!

The bible say to “Declare it among all the nations”

Declare the Glory of God among all the nations!!!

The KJV “heathen”

We are to proclaim the GLORY OF GOD even amongst the nations who don’t know Him!!

Amongst all the people!!!!

So listen…Listen to what the word of God is telling you…

If you have been coming in here every Sunday…going through the motions…

Tight lipped…

Whatever is preventing you from actively participating in worship…

If you are a true follower of Christ…

YOU ARE CALLED TO WORSHIP IN SONG…

And if you need motivation…

Look where David leads us next…

He tells us that we are called to worship the Lord…

Because of who He is! (v. 4-6)

READ VERSE 4-6

WHY DO WE WORSHIP THE LORD???

BECAUSE HE IS GREAT AND HE IS TO BE FEARED

Let me draw your attention to WHO it is your worshipping….

-The same God that created mount everest…

-The same God that created the great white shark…

-The same God that holds up the earth…He set it upon its foundation

-The same God that created the cosmos…the planets the stars the vastness of space

Thats who you are worshipping!!!!

For His GREATNESS…

-David tells us The LORD “ MADE THE HEAVENS”

-“SPLENDOR AND MAJESTY ARE BEFORE HIM”

-STRENGTH AND BEAUTY ARE IN HIS SANCTUARY”

Look around you church… SEE GODS GREATNESS…HIS BEAUTY!!!

-In the vastness of the night sky…

-In the eyes of a new born baby…

ALL CREATED BY HIS HANDS…

THE ONE YOU ARE TO WORSHIP!!!!

Look in His word and SEE HOW MIGHTY HE IS!!!

SO MIGHTY IN FACT THAT…

The bible tells us He is to be feared above all other gods…

David says all the other gods (little “g”) are worthless…worthless idols!!!

Their is only 1 God to be feared!!!

Next week we are going to start a series in Exodus…

In a few weeks we are going to be reading about what happened at the RED SEA CROSSING…

When the EGYPTIAN ARMY…

THE GREATEST…MOST POWERFUL…MOST MASSIVE ARMY THAT HAD EVER EXISTED TO THAT POINT IN TIME…

Led by the most powerful leader that had ever existed to that point in time…this guy named Pharoah…

Was DECIMATED…

DESTROYED IN AN INSTANT…

In fact did you know they are still finding pieces of armor and chariot wheels and weapons on the sea floor in this location…

Let me ask you was it BUDDAH who Destroyed Pharoahs army??

Was it Gahndi???

Was it Baal (Bale)???

Was it Zeus or Athena???

Was it Muhammed???

WHO WAS IT???

Exodus 14:1–4 “Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell the people of Israel to turn back and encamp in front of Pi-ha(hiroth), between Migdol and the sea, in front of Bale-zephon; you shall encamp facing it, by the sea. For Pharaoh will say of the people of Israel, ‘They are wandering in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.’ And I (says the LORD) will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.”

Look down to verse 21…

Exodus 14:21–28 (ESV)

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. And in the morning watch the Lord in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic, clogging their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. And the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from before Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.”

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.” So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the Lord threw the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained.

THE LORD SAYS “I DELIVERED MY PEOPLE”

“I DECIMATED PHAROAHS GREAT ARMY”

“I GET THE GLORY!!”

IT WAS THE LORD!!!

NO OTHER GOD…THE GREAT I AM DID IT!!!

(Pause)

THE LORD IS MIGHTY, POWERFUL, GREAT!!!!

HE IS GREATER THAN ALL OTHERS!!!

This is why we worship Him church…

HE IS GREATLY TO BE PRAISED…

If you want to see His greatness look in His word…read about His great and mighty works…

Look around you!! See His great and mighty works!!!

And worship Him because of who He is… (PAUSE)

BUT HOW DO WE WORSHIP THE LORD????

We are to Ascribe all things to Him because all will worship Him in the end!

Lets again break this statement down…see it in the text…

We are to Ascribe all things to Him… (v. 7-10)

READ VERSES 7-10

Notice the repetition of the word ASCRIBE here…

Every week that we worship together here…

Pastor Brad is leading us to abide in this exact text…

The ultimate goal as our worship pastor leads us in worship is to get our heart to pure ascription

this word “ascribe” means “To a-ttribute, or set to, as to a cause; to assign as a quality; to consider or allege to belong to”

So our ultimate goal…the way pastor builds the worship set is to get you from “WE” to “YOU”

From “we praise you” and “we love you”

To “you are”

You are holy…You are righteous…You are

David here is fast forwarding us church…He is getting us straight to pure ascription!!!

He says ASCRIBE TO THE LORD:

Families of the people…

Thats every tribe…every race…every nation

ASCRIBE…Glory to the LORD!!!

Worship in the splendor of HOLINESS!!!

Bring an offering…come into His courts!!

What you are being called to do here is ASCRIBE ALL THINGS TO GOD…

Give Him over everything!!!

I AM NOTHING YOU ARE EVERYTHING LORD!!!

YOU ARE GLORIOUS…

YOU ARE STRENGTH LORD…

YOU DESERVE ALL THAT I HAVE…

ALL BELONGS TO YOU!!!!

David says come into his courts…

Come into His house…and ascribe to Him ALL THINGS…

Tremble before Him because all belong to Him…

This is what true worship looks like church…

Pure ascription to the Lord…

And we are to do this…

BECAUSE ALL WILL WORSHIP HIM IN THE END! (v. 11-13)

Church I don’t even have to break this one down for us…

The word of God in all its timeless perfection does it for us…

You wanna know what David is talking about???

TURN TO REVELATION 5…

Last book of the bible revelation chapter 5…

In the book of Revelation…the apostle John gets a front row seat to the Return of Jesus…

David says in Psalm 96…”the Lord comes…He is coming”

Now in Revelation John is seeing what it will be like first hand…

The Lord in chapter 4 calls John up to Heaven and there he sees and describes the throne of God…

And as John settles in to see how the return of the LORD will kick off…

he pens Revelation chapter 5…

AND IF YOU WOULD STAND TO YOUR FEET CHURCH AND FOLLOW ALONG WITH ME AS I READ…

READ REVELATION 5!

CHURCH EVERY CREATURE…EVERY TONGUE…IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH WILL FALL TO THEIR FACE AND WORSHIP JESUS!!!

THEY WILL KNOW THAT HE IS MIGHTY…THEY WILL KNOW THAT HE IS POWERFUL…THEY WILL KNOW THAT HE IS KING OF ALL!!!

BUT WE ALREADY KNOW THAT!!!!

WE KNOW HIS CHARACHTER!!!

WE KNOW WHAT HE HAS DONE!!!

WE KNOW THE GOSPEL!!!

WE KNOW HIS SON!!!

WE KNOW HIM!!!

WE HAVE AN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM!!!

HE DWELLS INSIDE OF US!!!!

LET THE WORD OF GOD LEAD YOUR HEART THIS MORNING

LET IT STIR THE HOLY SPIRIT INSIDE OF YOU…

TO WORSHIP THE LORD OF ALL THE WAY HE DESERVES TO BE WORSHIPPED!!!

IN SONG…EVERY MOUTH IN HERE SHALL PROCLAIM:

SALVATION THROUGH THE BLOOD OF JESUS!!

DECLARE THE GLORY OF GOD AMONGST THE NATIONS!!!

HIS GREATNESS…HIS CREATION!!!

ASCRIBE ALL THINGS TO HIM AS KING

WE OFFER ALL TO HIM!!!

WE DWELL IN HIS HOUSE!!!!

WE TREMBLE BEFORE HIM BECAUSE OF HIS SPLENDOR AND MAJESTY AND HOLINESS!!!

JESUS REINGS!!!!!

PRAY!!!
