Preaching To The Crowd

Jesus is continuing His sermon
last week we saw His warning of being ready for His return
we saw the signs of the times
we saw how the world is preparing for the one world government
and how close that is by what is going on in this world
the unrest in the middle east
the takeover of Europe by the radical Muslims
the downfall in this country
are we ready for he trumpet call?
are we watching and waiting
are we living the lifestyle of faith pleasing to our Lord
are we being faithful to the mission that He has appointed us to do
Jesus is going to change the subject here in the next verses
Jesus is going to speak about Himself
How He id going to to the cross
He will cause division in families
Read Luke 12 49-

Baptism and Fire

V 49
Fire is a verbal representation of judgement
Jesus is going to be the judge of this world
people will be judged
angels will be judged
leaders and presidents will be judged
the books will be opened
sin will be judged and will be found guilty
V 49 How I wish it has started
Jesus Has come to earth as a Man to live a perfect life
to fulfill the law perfectly
to die a sacrificial substitutionary death
Jesus the man is apprehensive about the death that He will endure
wishing that He was on the other side and in the Judgement stage
V 50
This Death of Jesus will be the most horrific miscarriage of justice ever imposed onto someone
the most cruel, the most torturous, a
but that is just the physical side of this death
not the part that Jesus was distressed about
in the garden the night before His death. praying to the father if there be any other way.
but your will be done
but for Jesus to take on sin who knew no sin
for Jesus to have to say “My God My God why has thou forsaken Me”
because the Father has turned away from the son
for the first time in eternity the Father and Son was separated
the sun turned dark
the earth quaked, graves were opened
Jesus dies for the sin of his people
Jesus dies so that you and I can be saved
Jesus takes the punishment that you and I deserve
Jesus is distressed over the agonizing torture of this punishment that He is going to receive
now Jesus is going to ask a question
do you think that

I Come To Grant Peace?

V 51
the Israelites expect the Messiah to restore the Kingdom to Israel
where He will bring peace on earth
where He will rule with a rod of iron
destroy all the armies of the world and it will live in peace
in a Garden of Eden
BUT
the people who are saved
the ones who are given eternal life
the ones who are given access to the Kingdom
are so radically changed that there is an instant change
there is a metamorphism that changes them from a Caterpillar to a butterfly
they are given such a change of disposition that the others around them are repulsed
their friends all leave
their family does not know what to do with the change
V 51-53
the unsaved love the darkness and hate the light
the display of the homosexual rendition of the last supper at the Olympics is a display of the natural depraved nature of the unsaved
the display of love that was shown to satan is showing the world that we are all in this together against the Church of God
Jesus came to bring division — not peace
and again Jesus is going to

Evangelize

V 54- 56
you should know prophecy concerning me
you should know the prophecy concerning this time
you should know that it is the end of Daniels 62 weeks
when the Messiah will be killed
you should know these things just like you can predict the weather
I saw a clip of Tucker Carlson the other day and he was commenting on how the Christians are the only group of people who are not worried about the future
with all the turmoil going on in this world
the inflation the wars the unrest in government
its because we know this is going to happen and we know the future
Jesus is telling these people the same thing. you should know what time it is
later on in Luke we will see when Jesus speaks about the reason for the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70
Luke 19:44 LSB
and they will level you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”

Judge Yourselves

V 57
John the Baptist preached repentance to enter the kingdom
he preached for people to show evidence of that repentance
Jesus is saying don’t judge the weather but judge yourselves
Jesus started this section saying that He is going to bring Judgement
If I judge you you will go to eternal punishment
If the judge of the world is Judging you there will be no defence that you will have
no reasons , no excuses, no explanations, no benefit of doubt
V 58
so Jesus says before you get to the Judges bench
before you stand convicted
before you have no other alternative
make it right with your accuser
V 59
the price to pay is eternal
eternity is the penalty
the debt is larger than the US deficit
it cannot be paid in full
Romans 6:23 LSB
For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
but the gift is forgiveness of sins
the grace of God who gives salvation to all who believe
John 3:16–17 LSB
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
Acts 2:38 LSB
And Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
repent have a Godly sorrow for your sins
believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved
Call upon Jesus to save you
