The Wages of Sin

We must trust in the Lord and turn away from evil.
See Proverbs 3:5-8...
The Lord loves to deliver those who trust in Him.
Psalm 37:5 “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.”
Sin always bring death and destruction.
James 1:14–15 “But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.”
1. Rachel gives Bilhah to Jacob as a wife. Bilhah bore Dan, which means “judge”. She then bore Naphtali, which means “my wrestling”.
2. Leah then gives Zilpah to Jacob as a wife, so she can one up her sister. Zilpah had Gad, which means “good fortune”. Then she bore Asher, which means “happy one”.
3. The mandrake plant bears fruit that looks like a small apple. In the ancient world, it was thought to be an aphrodisiac. Leah bore another son to Jacob and called his name Issachar, which means “there is a wage”. She then bears another son she named Zebulun, which means “gift or honor”. She then had a daughter that she named Dinah, which means “judgment”.
4. Rachel finally has a son of her own and names him Joseph, which means “may he add”.

Don’t Be Deceived

We often deceive ourselves by thinking that we are different, therefore we won’t face the consequences of our actions.
Galatians 6:7–8 “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”
Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.”

Reaping Corruption

Don’t be fooled into thinking that the Bible’s warnings don’t apply to us.
Proverbs 6:27–28 “Can a man carry fire next to his chest and his clothes not be burned? Or can one walk on hot coals and his feet not be scorched?”
See Proverbs 7:21–27...
Proverbs 23:31–32 “Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly. In the end it bites like a serpent and stings like an adder.”

Reaping Life

We must earnestly pursue the Lord and His ways.
1 Timothy 4:7–8 “Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.”
Hebrews 12:14 “Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.”
We have been given everything we need pertaining to life and godliness.
2 Peter 1:3 “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,”
2 Timothy 3:16–17 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” (see John 17:17 and Romans 10:17)
Jude 20 “But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,”
Hebrews 10:24–25 “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” (see Proverbs 27:17)
