III. The Sadducees and their Problem. vs.27-38
IV. The Scribes and their Pride. vs.39-47
Here we find out who we are with:

I. The Question Of The Critics. vs.27-33

Sadducees. 27
27 Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,
Jews who denied the existence of angels or other spirits, and all miracles, especially the resurrection.
They were the religious rationalists of the time. Their counterpart today (as the Pharisee is counterpart to the long robed “father” of Roman tradition) is the “Modernist” or “Liberal” who believes in nothing but materialistic, physical beings and the deductions and findings of physical science.1
Modern liberals deny Jesus Christ in the Flesh (1 John 4:1-2) by removing a single word in their "bibles"; what word is it you say? Try infallible. Look at Acts 1:3. They flat out deny Him by removing one word!
Infallible - incapable of error or mistake
tek-may'-ree-on - a goal or fixed limit); a defining a fact, that is, criterion of certainty: - infallible proof.
Which leaves out “infallible”?
Assumption. v.33
They assumed that all the dead RISE! This is another gross error.1 “Ye do err...”
They failed to learn about the two resurrections, which are separated by 1,000 years!
Resurrection of the just (the Rapture - 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
The resurrection of the unjust (Great White Throne - Revelation 20:15)

II. The Answer Of Christ. vs.34-38

Jesus' answer to the Sadducees' question gives the three incapacities of the rationalist:
Self-deception
Rom. 1:21-22
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Ignorance of the spiritual content of Scripture
Acts 13:27
For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.
Disbelief in the intervention of divine power
2 Pet. 3:4-9.
“angels” v.36
Sexless beings that care not for human lust and filth
Notice the Sadduccees obsession with death.
If any man’s brother die v.28
Died v.29
He died v.30
And died. v.31
The woman died v.32
It seems those that do not believe in the resurrection are getting themselves deep into death!

Conclusion:

Are you with the critics or with Christ?
