Acts 5:1–11 NKJV
1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. 2 And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. 3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? 4 While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.” 5 Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things. 6 And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him. 7 Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 And Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?” She said, “Yes, for so much.” 9 Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” 10 Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband. 11 So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things.

1. Ministry means people and people take money.

The Apostle Peter clears the whole thing up with some questions:

1) Why Has Satan filled your heart lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the land for yourself?

The Apostle Peter gets a word of knowledge.

1 Corinthians 12:7–8 NKJV
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,

2) Was it not your own?

of corse we know that everything we have belongs to the Lord.
Further we know that the lord intends for us to enjoy the blessings that he gives us.
you are part of a family to enjoy it.
you are given vacation days to enjoy them.
we are given a day of rest to enjoy them.
we are not called to bondage but to freedom.

3) After it was sold was it not in your own control?

This question proves that this is not what they gave or kept, it was their own to do with as the wished.
whatever God gave you, he gave into your stewardship.

4) Why have you conceived this thing in your heart?

note that on the worksheet, the “You” is your fill in. that is because Ananias and Sapphire made a decision.

You have not lied to men, but to God Acts 5:4.

We should give no place to the Devil.
Ephesians 4:27 NKJV
27 nor give place to the devil.
The Holy Spirit is as much God as the Father and the Son.
Acts 5:3 NKJV
3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?
John 8:44 NKJV
44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

Lying is a Characteristic of Satan.

1: a distinguishing trait, quality, or property

Remember, God cannot lie.

Numbers 23:19 NKJV
19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
Proverbs 30:5 NKJV
5 Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.
Titus 1:1–2 NKJV
1 Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness, 2 in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began,
Hebrews 6:18 NKJV
18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.

3. God is Holy, thus every thing he does is righteous!

Malachi 3:6 NKJV
6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.
God knows what man does not, the heart.
1 Samuel 16:7 NKJV
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Luke 16:15 NKJV
15 And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
Acts 5:7–8 NKJV
7 Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 And Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?” She said, “Yes, for so much.”
This verse proved that they conspired together to taint Holy things.
This is why you don’t see me commenting on controversy in the Church.
God does not need me to fight for him! He can fight for Himself.
When I hear of a church gone wrong or a pastor gone wrong I don’t stand in superior as if I have no sin, I hit my knees that correction might come.
Matthew 13:24–30 NKJV
24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.” ’ ”
