It used to be that prisoners were fed only bread and water during their captivity. It would be all a person needed to stay alive. Bread could sustain a person on a long journey. It is less likely to go bad over the course of a few days while being bounced around in a bad compared to most fruits and vegetables. Jesus calls himself the bread of life. Not like the bread we bake and eat for a few more moments of energy. As Pastor Harrison explains it, Jesus is a source that once taken, continues to refresh. John 6:35; 51–58; John 2: 1–12; John 3:1–3; John 4:19–24; John 5:1–9; Exodus 3:14; Ecclesiastes 3:11; John 14:1–7; 2 Corinthians 12:1–5; Revelation 21:22–26; 1 Corinthians 2:6–11
