Communion Meditation: “Ours To Keep – Ours To Give Away”

When we enter into the Kingdom of God and follow Jesus, we are under the New Covenant (Lk 22:20), and not only receive God’s grace & forgiveness, but the character, righteousness & holiness of Christ.

We receive it freely, and it is ours to give away; no one can take it from us, rather, we give it away.

I.e.: In Genesis 25:31-34, we can read the story where Esau gave away his birthright to his brother Jacob.  Jacob did not steal it from him!

When we sin, we give away our holiness, purity, righteousness, integrity, etc.  No one can take it from us; but it’s ours to give away.

Jesus did have to give up anything, but voluntarily gave His life on the cross, keeping His holiness and righteousness when we, by sinning, give ours (righteousness, holiness, etc.) away.

It’s nailed to the cross, taken by Jesus, so we can be made pure once again and restored to the Father.

I John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”  (NIV)

What have you given away recently that Christ wants to restore?

Confess it and thank Jesus for His love, mercy, and grace.

Thank Jesus for restoring and forgiving you.
