What does it mean to be forward thinking in a changed world?
Changed college and demographic data
Churches of Christ have closed three graduate schools since 2022.
CofC Campus Ministries By Year
“All in all, the typical campus ministry in Churches of Christ is located in the South and serves a campus with more than 15,000 students. Its church has an average attendance ranging from 120-299 and its ministry is around thirty-nine students.”
ACU Study: Campus ministries with a building baptized half as many students as those without.
Acts 15:19 ESV
Therefore my judgment is that we should not trouble those of the Gentiles who turn to God,
Being forward thinking will mean accepting the changes that have already happened and looking to what comes next.
Acts 15:20 ESV
but should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what has been strangled, and from blood.
Why this list?
Leviticus 17 & 18 - “the strangers who sojourn among them”
They did not attempt to apply the entire book of Leviticus.
Being forward thinking means drawing from the wisdom of yesterday to asking what will work tomorrow.
Acts 15:21 ESV
For from ancient generations Moses has had in every city those who proclaim him, for he is read every Sabbath in the synagogues.”
Being forward thinking means gratefulness to the past without slavery to it.
The way you honor the past is by thriving in the future.
