1 Timothy 6:13–15 ESV
I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which he will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
When we think of Charles Stanley, we often think of a great preacher. For me, I confess he is bigger than life. So when I read the following in one of his books, I was taken back. I realized he was as real, as well, I am. He said,
Never forget, God Is in Control.
I recall that in one of the most painful and difficult seasons of my life—a time when I felt very discouraged and fearful—when moments of loneliness were most intense, I would seek out my best friend for his wisdom. Often he and I would sit by the fire for hours in the evening and talk. He would encourage me to pour out my heart about how I was feeling—all about the incredible pain that seemed to flood my soul.Over and over again he would say to me, “Remember, Charles, God is in control.” That factual statement became an anchor to my life. No matter how hard the wind began to blow or how much the adversity seemed to intensify, my soul remained anchored to that simple truth: God really is in control. (1)
Let me repeat what he said, “God Really is in Control.”
Why is it comforting to know that God is Really in Control.
Look for moment at the world around us. As Americans, we are going into the most confusing election we have ever had.
On one side is a man that was recently attacked, not with word, which is now normal politics, but a bullet.
The other side is no better, the person with the most votes, was forced out of the race, and replaced by a person selected by the parties leadership.
Can anything good come out of this election?
The answer is Yes, if we believe God is Really in Control.
What about the economy? We are in an inflation spiral. I learned a lot about inflation this week. Inflation is cumulative. That means it one quarter we have 8% increase in inflation, and the next quarter we go down to 2%. That does not mean prices are now 2% higher. They are 10% higher. The 8% of the first quarter is added to 2% of the second quarter. Which is why I was told the cost of every home in America has gone up in cost by 30% in the last few years.
Can anything good come out of this economy?

God is Really in Control.

1 Timothy 6:15 NASB95
which He will bring about at the proper time—He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
God is the only Sovereign. What does that mean?
The word is

δυνάστης, ου m (δύναμαι) ruler, king; Sovereign, Lord (of God); official (Ac 8:27)

Sovereign means a supreme ruler, especially a monarch.
Concise Oxford English dictionary, 2004.
In David Platt, in his sermon, God is Sovereign said.

First, number one, God is sovereign. This line should just be a staple in pretty much every single sermon here because it’s evident in every single text. You might think, “Dave, why do you say this over and over and over again?” Here’s why.

Because I want you to reminded—and the Bible seems to want to remind you—week in and week out, that no matter what is happening in this world, no matter what is happening in your world, God is in control. He is on the throne. Always. God is in control, and Satan is not.

If we believe that God is Sovereign. That he is the king of all. Then it follows that, and this is important, Satan is not in Charge

Satan is not in Charge

Matthew 8:29 NASB95
And they cried out, saying, “What business do we have with each other, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”

God is sovereign, and Satan is subordinate

we know from all of Scripture that Satan is limited and bound in at least some senses. He does not have free reign in this world, and he does not have free reign in your life. He is limited in what he can do by the sovereign and limitless power of God. And because Jesus has triumphed over him at the cross

He is limited and bound, and he is doomed to be defeated. And he knows this! Do you remember in Matthew 8 when demons approach Jesus and ask him, “Have you come to torment us before the appointed time?” (Mt. 8:29). Before the appointed time! They know there’s an appointed time for their defeat!

The Gospel will Advance

Matthew 24:14 NASB
“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come.

The gospel will advance through the church

God is sovereign, Satan is subordinate, and third, the gospel will advance through the church. “This gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Mt. 24:14). That’s a guarantee from Jesus’ mouth in Matthew 24! Men and women from all nations, tribes, tongues, and peoples will be represented around the throne of Christ one day. That’s a guarantee from God’s Word.
