The definite article (“the” mountain, not just “a” mountain) probably shows that a well-known mountain is indicated
-a familiar place is often minimized and underestimated
mountain where Moses received the law (Loisy). Even Davies (Setting, p. 93), after exploring all possibilities, concedes Matthew could have more explicitly delineated a “new Moses” theme
